Re: SBEMU: Sound Blaster emulation on AC97

Are we supposed to be using "LH" when loading hdpmi and sbemu? I haven't been. That might be related to your issues? Also, did you set the right irq and dma for Doom using setup.exe? Quake and Wolfenstein just use your "Set Blaster" environment variable, but Doom does not. You also might try using …

Re: SBEMU: Sound Blaster emulation on AC97

I had some time to play around with the "HP T510 Thin Client". So I edited my CONFIG.SYS by adding "I=B000-B7FF" like this: DEVICE=JEMMEX.EXE X2MAX=8192 X=E000-EFFF I=B000-B7FF however the USB keyboard still moved on it's own in games. Next I edited my AUTOEXEC.BAT like this: JLOAD.EXE QPIEMU.DLL …

I agree though, you would need at LEAST two cores to even ATTEMPT this with a classic era computer. One core JUST …

Re: OpenGL DirectX to software wrapper?

in Windows
Is there a wrapper to play old DirectX or OpenGL games with a fast computer with no real 3D accelerator? Only thing is TitaniumGL. My goolefu did not give me any straight answers. SwiftShader More completely: Since modern versions of SwiftShader can run on Vulkan API, (and provide useful D3D8 and …

Re: QUARTERDECK QEMM products ... Good? or Garbage?

in Milliways
To be honest, I never used QEMM back in the day. The only experiences I had with it, were when there were problems with it, since I had a teenager job working as a bench monkey at a mom&pop repair place. While this was subjectively biased in terms of realworld expectation, it was sufficient to put …

Re: Daemon Tools Lite - malware

You want nothing newer than DT3.xx from Oldversion.com For newer OSes, there are better software packages that are clean and no-nonsense. Anything newer, and the creators decided that they needed to bundle crapware that does really awful shit. As for removal... That's always been a problem with …
