Re: What game are you playing now?

Still on Halo 3: ODST . Didn't have a lot of time for gaming due to other obligations, so I was playing it on and off during the last few weeks. The sections where you play as the Rookie are a bit too slow for my taste, but I understand why the developers went in that direction. They are also very …

Re: Making choices for a (super) socket 7 for DOS - Win98SE. Only 3 cards can be installed!

Both the Maestro and Solo-1 can handle 16-bit Sound Blaster digital audio. Not sure about the Maestro, but the Solo-1 ditched native AudioDrive functionality in pure DOS. You only get 16-bit audio under Windows with that card. And while I'm a fan of both WSS and AudioDrive modes, some games like …

Re: Planescape: Tormet using the DDraw Fix by Aqrit

It's been a while since I tested this, but from what I recall, you could fix Torment's graphical issues by turning off the Hardware Acceleration of your GPU using the relevant slider. No third-party tools were needed, and everything worked fine. The process is described here on the PC Gaming Wiki.

Re: Making choices for a (super) socket 7 for DOS - Win98SE. Only 3 cards can be installed!

If the integrated Solo-1 works properly, it's pointless to get another SBPro compatible card. Assuming the motherboard has a gameport in the back, grab one of those Chill adapters from serdashop so you can attach the daughterboard to it. The ISA slot can house the AWE64 for those late DOS games that …

Re: Sound Blaster 16 Clones

IIRC the 100Plus+ lost the High DMA support? So that makes it SB Pro compatible only? It's still SB16 compatible, but will have issues with Build engine games, which can be bypassed by manually editing the configuration files. Same thing as with Creative's Vibra XV cards, which also don't have High …

Re: Sound Blaster 16 Clones

All these pages of talk and nobody seems to have made a summary table.. I should get to it sometime I suppose. Anyway, I just wanted to confirm that Avance Logic ALS100/100Plus+ cards, like the ALS007, are SB16 compatible? I have an ALS100 (non-plus) and it is SB16 compatible, including proper High …

Re: Splinter Cell (1) Projected Shadows?

Pandora Tomorrow, PT is a notoriously difficult game to get running accurately on anything newer without something like DGVoodoo2. I used to think that too, but Pandora Tomorrow actually works fine on GeForce 6 and 7 series cards. You do need to use a specific driver version though, I think it was …

Re: Is it possible to copy the Warcraft 2 CD?

in DOS
My memory on this is a bit fuzzy, but I think Blizzard used to make dual PC/Mac discs at one point. Not sure if WarCraft 2 falls under that category though. In any case, such discs are difficult to image the normal way and might need a specialized program.

Re: What game are you playing now?

Started playing Halo 3: ODST . I ordered this a while ago, and it finally arrived today. Well, this game sure hits different. The atmosphere is darker, and the somber music as well as the muted colors reflect that. Gameplay wise, it's similar to Halo 3 of course, with a few small twists like the …

Filename More_Halo.jpg File size 337.55 KiB Views 535 views Got these two for my Xbox 360. With that, I think I have every FPS Halo game for that console. There are apparently some RTS and twin stick Halo games, but I'm not sure if I'm interested in those.
