Just figured I'd share my progress with everyone.

As I finally assembled what should be my final "ultimate" glide windows 98 system. It so far has been the most compatible with games I've come across so far.

System specs are:
Windows 98 SE
Asus CUSL2-C Black Pearl Edition
Intel Pentium III-S 1400 MHz pin modded for i815EP non-B-Step
PC133 Crucial SDRam CL2 2x256MB
AGP 3Dfx Voodoo 3 3000 (re-capped/ramsinked/fan installed and oc'ed to 190Mhz)
PCI NEC 4-Port USB
PCI Intel 10/100 Pro NIC
PCI Creative Sound Blaster Live!
PSU X-Clio 500 Watt GoodPower stripped down power connections
DVD-ROM 16x Pioneer
HDD Western Digital 120GB SE (installed above DVD in 5.25 cage.
FDD Sony

As you can see I've sleeved a bit of the power connector. I've changed the Case Power/Motherboard/FDD/DVD-Rom indicators to Purple. Installed 2x R4 Coolermaster red LED Case fans. Painted the I/O plate, DVD-Rom, Floppy black.

The rear red case fan almost perfectly shines a small bead of light on the 3Dfx logo.

Future things would still include more wire cleanup and individual sleeving of wires.

ps: can u give some more info on recapping the v3?
ps2: can you play voodoo 1/2 games with the v3 3000?

Hi. I didn't have to drill the voodoo 3, its the oringal holes for the push pins they originally used. They come out to be a good fit for a 50mm fan.

As for the recapping I removed all the original surface mount (SMD) capacitors (small silver cylinders) and replaced all 10x of the 10uf 16v ones. In the past I've had reliability issues with the SMD caps as they tend to leak and smell bad. I actually have a diamond monster 1 (voodoo 1) that had smelled like terrible fish that I had to recap.

With the exception of a couple voodoo 1 games only working on voodoo 1 there has been no big issues playing voodoo 1/2 games on a voodoo 3

Most of my V3's don't have these holes. I wonder if the V3's with the holes were of newer make...
Perhaps I'll go check my V3's and see if I can see a pattern with the dates. Perhaps even create a new topic about my findings but no time right now to go and check as I'm out the door in 15 minutes or so

@ Tetrium...
What voodoo 3's do you own. If you own a V3 2k/3k/3.5k they should all have the holes (only 2). The 2k has the holes but just use adhesive to stick the heatsink on. The 3k/3.5k actually use the 2 push pins to hold the heatsink on. The voodoo 3 1000 does not have holes.

No one like old hardware mixed with newer? Oh well. I ordered some SMD red led strips to put under the motherboard for effect 😀

Here's a V3 3K without the pin holes

I did a quick check and apparently the V3 3k's indeed have the pinholes while the 2k's were missing them.
The PCI ones I have are all 2k's alas

Tetrium bro, I have a V3 2k with the pin holes, a STB card sold in 2000 if that interests you.

Here's some updated pictures. Just took them. I still need to re-paint the powerlines. Its hard to tell but there is red backlighting under the motherboard now. Looks cool in person.
