I get the cannot locate CD whenever I use any DOSBox version, and front-end for DOSBox or VDSound. I can only run it, with problems using the Bethesda XP patch, but I would rather run the game in DOSBox to get better sound and smoother movement.

Never had this problem where the CD cannot be found in DOSBox before. That's the sort of problem that normally gets you to use DOSBox!

1. You are posting in the wrong forum.
2. You failed to search this forum or the Bethesda forum for your issue which has been covered 1,000,000 times.
3. You failed to mention the name of the game. That would be helpful.
4. Never play DaggerFall in NTVDM. Only use DOSBox.
5. Forget about the Bethesda XP patch.
