Forgive me for my ineptitude...

I am copying my RIPPER cd's to my harddrive so I can imgmount them in Dosbox. They are .bin and .cue files, and I was wondering, how do you mount these in dosbox? I tried to imgmount them, but it says it can only do .iso files.

I was reading a thread on Ripper in general - and it seemed there were some special install instructions people had to do, but I couldn't make heads or tails of it.

I could probably figure it out, once I got the basic of how to install the .bin and .cue files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You mount .cue's the same as you do .iso's.

imgmount d image1.cue image2.cue image3.cue -t iso

Make sure the .bin that goes with the .cue is in the same directory and/or that the path in the .cue matches the .bin.

I believe it is -t cue. The CUE-file itself contains the filename of the BIN-part.

EDIT: Forget that. It is -t iso. But the path should point to the CUE-file.

readme:

IMGMOUNT
-t
The following are valid image types:
floppy: Specifies a floppy image. DOSBox will automatically identify
the disk geometry (360K, 1.2MB, 720K, 1.44MB, etc).
iso: Specifies a CD-ROM iso image. The geometry is automatic and
set for this size. This can be an iso or a cue/bin pair.
hdd: Specifies a harddrive image. The proper CHS geometry
must be set for this to work.

no, it's -t iso

Ahh - my mistake. I was thinking of the FILENAME that you give to the IMGMOUNT command.

For BIN/cue images you mount the cue file.

Generally, if a game has more than 3 discs I mount them through Daemon Tools instead. I find it easier to keep track of which one I'm switching to.

Yeah, you want to mount the CUE file because it contains the name of the BIN file plus some info about what's in the BIN file.

If you mount in Daemon Tools will DOSBox rescan the virtual disc when you swap which one is mounted?

dosbox keeps saying that its not a valid file 🙁

any ideas?

can you convert bin /cue to iso with a program similar to toast?

even toast says its not a valid bin / cue... maybe something happened when it got copied?
