I saw a thread in Marvin regarding an Adlib tracker, which reminds me...

Does anyone have the Tetra Music Compositor, preferably the stereo version which came with a version of SoundBlaster Pro. If not, the ordinary v1.0 would do.

Used to compose those years. (circa 1990-1991)
Just wondering if someone still has it. I would love to add it in my collection, since it brings back good memories. I've only used the v1.0 before, not the stereo version.

Thanks!

EDIT:
I've attached the .mod and midi verions of a music piece called "Echoing" or "Echo" for short which came with the compositor.

I found this after so long in the net, and have been listening to it ever since!

I didn't use Tetra Music Compositor too much because I already used MODEDIT and MPPRO. 😀 I'm not sure why, but Tetra tended to crash my old 286 unless I set the speed to 8MHz.

These days, I think you can use ModPlug Tracker. I haven't tried it because I haven't got the time to write tracker music anymore, but I guess it's worth trying.

Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....

Thanks for the infos, guys! Appreciate it! I've been busy setting up (upgrading/modifying - again) my classic pc. Just received two Voodoo 2 cards with the SLI connector. Anyway, I miss that Tetra Compositor. But I believe that Fast Tracker is quite good I suppose. ANd the Modplug Tracker - I'll give it a try too. Thanks!

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I recently found a few box shots of Tetra Compositor... I figured that anyone who is a fan of TC, might like these pics 😀

Also, some web pages that you might find of interest:

http://jasonwilliams400com.startlogic.com/sno … eds/Echoing.htm

...and a YouTube video of the original Tetra Compositor non-interactive demo (mentioned and linked in the above two web pages) that shipped with the Sound Blaster cards:

If anyone is interested here's a track which comes with Tetra Compositor :

For those who have a sub-woofer, make sure it's on! 😁

(This is the demo program. The full software is colorful as shown on the box shot above.)

Something that always mystified me, all the way back from when I FIRST saw that TC non-interactive demo running that came with one of my old original Sound Blaster cards... and something that just YESTERDAY I finally discovered:

That tune, "Echoing", was from an Amiga "cracktro" (game crack intro) for the Amiga game "Dugger". The game crack was created by the hacking/cracking group "World of Wonders" back in 1988, and the "Echoing" music for the cracktro was composed by Christof "Banana" Mühlan of WoW.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=za0R3LcEp0E

Mystery solved 😀

P.S. download/file.php?id=7040 (in DOSBox, "loadfix tdemo.com") 😀

I have been listening to mods today, and well I found a Dane , who made mods. And one of his scene names was DRAX. So I hope, that this website is okay to show here http://csdb.dk/ And where did I listen to the mods ? Well some days ago I had an epiphany, that wondered if there was a mod player for the android phones. And bloody Eureka there was such a player 😀

I'm sure this cracktro music would have been miles better than the game's music itself. 😉

Hmmm... the "LARS.MOD" that's included with Tetra Compositor. I always wondered where that one came from, no mention of an author/composer ANYWHERE on the Internet.

On this Wiki page -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_audio_trackers is a link to this Wiki page -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protracker :

Protracker (circa 1990) for the Amiga - Program authors Lars Hamre, Anders Hamre, Sven Vahsen, and Rune Johnsrud.

What are the odds that "Lars" is the composer of "LARS" <grin>? 😀

LARS is another great track. I especially like the pattern no.06 in it.

http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_ … eid&query=47458

I find that I need to reduce the tracker speed (delay to 7) in Madtracker when I play it in my i7 notebook. The default speed seems too fast to appreciate it.

Glad you liked it! 😀 Yeah, I always liked "LARS.MOD" as well 😀

BTW, an addendum to my previous post refering to "LARS.MOD":

I don't know of y'all have ever came across this FTP site -> ftp://ftp.modland.com , TONS of Tracker music related downloads, and just about the LARGEST archive of Tracker tunes anywhere on the Internet 😀

The FTP site is WELL organized by composer, program, program OS, etc..., and I found this -> ftp://ftp.modland.com/pub/modules/Protracker/SLL/lars.mod . Seems that all of the MOD files in that ftp://ftp.modland.com/pub/modules/Protracker/SLL FTP directory are composed by a guy called "SLL".

I downloaded a few of them, and saw comments with the sample names of "S.L.L." and "S.L.L" as well... so, I'm thinking that whoever that "SLL" is, THAT who is composed the original "LARS.MOD" 😀

Hehe, there are even a few of my own meager offerings on that FTP site as well 😀

Also, if you like some more modern Tracker music, ANYTHING by Jussi "Elwood" Salmela is superb! 😀 Surf here -> http://www.elwoodproductions.com , scroll down to "XM releases", and download the 15 XM files... some GREAT stuff there 😀

BTW, another miscellaneous Tracker tune that I've always liked, "Defloration" (circa 1993) by EMax of TRSI ( http://www.trsi.org ) -> http://www.theparty.dk/wiki/Defloration ("DEFLORAT.MOD") 😀

Now... is your Tracker music collection lacking? Fret now more, surf here (Note: CD jewel case pics are attached to this message):

SoundMOD Volume One by Data Express, Inc., 1994
http://archive.org/details/cdrom-soundmod-vol1-dataexpress
http://archive.org/download/cdrom-soundmod-vo … dataexpress.iso

SoundMOD Volume Two by Data Express, Inc., 1995
http://archive.org/details/cdrom-soundmod-vol2-dataexpress
http://archive.org/download/cdrom-soundmod-vo … dataexpress.iso

Hehe, something that I wrote on Facebook quite some time ago (refering to SoundMOD Vol. 1 above):

Heh... seems that back in early '94 a company called "Data Express, Inc." sold a MOD Tracker format music CD for DOS called "SoundMOD Volume One" (UPC: 781307200019). Directly from one of the readmes on the CD:

BREAKDWN.MOD 94,116 bytes 1-28-93 4TRK:MOD Break It Down!

Yep... one of my old Tracker tune classics from 1993 🤣! 😀 And, being that I uploaded the original file to CompuServe way back when (and had been a member of CompuServe since early 198x?), that is *DEFINITIVE* PROOF* that *I* "invented the Internet" several years BEFORE Al Gore did 🤣!

BTW, you can snag all of my measly (and mostly crap <grin>) Tracker offerings here -> http://www.richnagel.net/#tracker ( http://www.simpilot.net/~richnagel/#tracker ) 😀

LASTLY... (P.S. Copy and paste the ENTIRE URLs below, if the forum software chops off the end of them!)

You know how almost ALL of the older MOD format Tracker tunes that were composed on the Amiga always have those "st#-samplename" sort of sample names for the samples? Those were sample disks that were included with the Amiga Tracker "Ultimate SoundTracker".

Now, surf here -> http://aminet.net/search?query=Sampledisk+for … mposer+Software , and also check the first readme for the first sample disk available for download on that site -> http://aminet.net/mods/inst/st-01.readme :

This Sampledisk is the first one of a big library of sampledisks. Till now this library contains of estimated 120 disks full with samples various contents. The first 5 disks of the ST-xx series were originally taken from the famous Soundtracker by Unknown of DOC. I think, he took them from the first tracker on the Amiga Soundtracker by Karsten Obarski.

Anyways, you can download all of the seperate sample disks from there (and there is QUITE A FEW of them!), or simply download the ENTIRE schmear in one file here -> oscomp.hu/?details/SoundTracker_and_Pro ... Amiga_1305 , actual file download is here -> http://oscomp.hu/dlgame.php?1305 ("ST-01_ST-B6.tar.bz2") .

NOW, Let's get off of our arses, and do some *NEW* old-school Tracking, using some samples from the original "ST-01"! 😀

BTW, if you prefer to Track REALLY old-school -> ftp://ftp.modland.com/pub/software/trackers/Amiga or ftp://ftp.modland.com/pub/software/trackers/DOS 😀
