He's still cool in my book.
It's not like I'm young.
And, hell, the song "It's All About The Pentiums" just rocks.

Ugh, charset Windows-1255? In the future, use UTF-8. Seriously. _________________ Colin Snover Zetafleet Web Development Believe it or not, we have posting guidelines always. |

You can find it at
http://www.geocities.com/masahirbuv/hirbuv.html Download both files, unzip them to the same directory and run the *.bat. Ir = city buvia doesn't mean anything - but when you say Ir-buvia it sounds like "mess" - an old witch came to a city and turned everything around and now we have to clean things up ![]() |

You're still going to need UHARC to extract it. And if you don't have UHARC (Current version: 0.4?), it's hard to find.
Here's the error message I get when trying to run it under Windows XP: .äïÿâää Üÿüàçü 'ÜàëÆüü îàöëê' äÇÿ .2 'æÄ îàù æëêÿï ÜÇëéÖ I don't know what it means... To Colin: I don't know how to set this so this can be read in Hebrew...
Geocities is a bad host, Robo... if we all download this, we'll surely cause you to exceed your bandwidth. Here's hoping my download didn't do it. For those watching, here's the contents of the archive: Quote: Directory of C:\DOCUME~1\stiletto\Desktop\hirbuv\

Similar error message in Windows 98, Robo. Hmmm...
I'll try it in Pure DOS when I get home tonight. (Note: The DOS4GW provided by "Boobia City" is v1.8.) And it -feels- to me like a homebuilt game. We'll see once/if I get it running. _________________ "I see a little silhouette-o of a man, Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango!" - Queen Stiletto |

Replacing DOS4GW with a newer version causes no effect. It actually breaks the batch files, which contain commands/switches for DOS4GW before execution. (ie DOS4GW v2.01a is not forward compatible with the commands/switches.)
In fact, in Win98, the whole program crashes with: A fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:FF0E1230 in V sbemul(06) + 00002C80. That's on a stock Gateway PRO-S P4-1300 SE. (Sbemul.sys, that is...)
Here's what seemed to be credits at the end of the executable. Maybe we can figure out who made it. Don't worry about the bandwidth
I'd rather have the game fixed and exceed it
Sorry about the UHARC - you can find it here: http://www.geocities.com/masautil/uha.html Just rename uha.dat to uha.exe The error message is probably "error in sound card" The game was made by MAHSHEVET - an israeli company that made MOD (the link Stiletto gave) too. Pictures can be found here: http://www.masagames.f2s.com/hirbuv.php3 I hope this info helps... |

Robo -- that's some impressive hunting. Now we need to find the English version of it (and maybe that one'll work! )_________________ Colin Snover Zetafleet Web Development Believe it or not, we have posting guidelines always. |

So unless I'm mistaken, "Upside Town" is a kid's/"edutainment" game. Just up Nicht Ser Gut's alley.
Haven't found a download link for the game yet, but I have found a few places to buy it. http://www.cdaccess.com/html/quick/upsidetpr.htm http://www.softwarecheaper.com/product1148.html Hmmm... I don't have any kids.... Nicht? _________________ "I see a little silhouette-o of a man, Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango!" - Queen Stiletto |

My previous experience with Br0derbund is that their tech support absolutely sucks.
Wonder what they'd say if we contacted them about a Softkey product?
http://support.broderbund.com/techtips_...asp?id=126 At any rate, one of us will have to purchase the product to help Robo. I doubt we'll find this on any warez sites (although you guys are welcome to try). Or we can continue experimenting with Robo's copy (the URL of which he thoughtfully provided). _________________ "I see a little silhouette-o of a man, Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango!" - Queen Stiletto |

Then we need to find a warezed copy to test. That's rather unlikely.
Tested Robo's copy on my home PC in "pure" DOS last night. Same error message. _________________ "I see a little silhouette-o of a man, Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango!" - Queen Stiletto |

Robo wrote: did you load your sound driver? I think you need to. Yes. I have a SBLive MP3+ (non-5.1). Loaded everything I needed to usually get sound in DOS. I'm hopelessly confused by all this. _________________ "I see a little silhouette-o of a man, Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango!" - Queen Stiletto |

Are there any switches you can use to force certain sound options? Did you make sure your BLASTER= line was set? (type "SET" to see if it is). Have you tried copying all the files on the CD to the game directory? (Unlikely this would fix it, but worth a try nevertheless. And, err, IS there a CD?) Is it possible that perhaps the game's sound files are missing? (Kind of an out-there proposition, but it could very well be the problem, if the sound never worked to begin with, and especially so since you uploaded it.) Now, this IS an actual purchased copy, right? Because I know that sometimes files (like audio) are stripped from the game to make it easier to download illegitimately. _________________ Colin Snover Zetafleet Web Development Believe it or not, we have posting guidelines always. |

The game has sound. I heard it myself. I had to run a file called ess.com first (that is how I load my sound driver. I tried to use
set blast=....... but it didn't work) It isn't VERY important and it works sometimes... I'll just let go... Thanx for all the help! |

Alright. If I ever get a spare $20 to spend, or if we ever get a copy another way, we'll let you know and pick this subject up later. _________________ "I see a little silhouette-o of a man, Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango!" - Queen Stiletto |
