Greetings, fellow players.

I really like Dosbox and I got it working. However, some games do not work and I would really appreciate your help: GAMES WHICH REQUIRE CD

- ioctl and all other things don't work. Games which don't require CD work without any trouble, hence I guess I am not doing something correctly.

These are the games:
ALIEN VIRUS
DEADLY GAMES
IMPERIUM GALACTICA

Here is what I do, for example, when I wish to start Alien virus:

mount d d: /
mount c c:/games/

c:

cd alien

av (that is exe file )

COMPUTER starts launch of DOS 4GW but after awhile it says "Unit can't find alien virus cd. Refer to the manual."

I have done something else: I have burned all the files of the game on a CD- ROM and inserted it in my hard drive. Then I launched it from the D:
and it said:

Illegal command: mode

Putting the CD in the computer and launching from C:/games didn't solve it either.

I appreciate your suggestions.

PS: Config: Win XP Toshiba 1.5 GhZ 512 RAM

Thanks, I tried that however the game stil doesn't work. It just says that it can't find his CD.

I launched it with this:

mount d d: / -t cdrom -ioctl -label d:

It launches, but when I run exe file it doesn't recognize it.

However, I succeded in running Deadly games on this way: I copied it on CDROM and launched it in dosbox with 870 mb freespace. Then I run exe file and it launched.

Huh?

uhm -label d: is very evil
if you don't know the real label you'd better omit the -label part. as the label you specify get's precendence over the official label.

To know a volume label's name, use the VOL X: command inside a windows dos box (where x: is the cd/dvd drive) or go to My PC and hit properties for an inserted CD/DVD.

C:\>VOL D:

Volume label is wtf

ETC...

mount d d:\ -t cdrom -ioctl -label WTF

It still doesn't work.

Well, nevermind. Maybe it is really a game. I can survive without it.

If you wish to check it out whether it is some sort of bug or something. the game is called "Alien virus" and I have downloaded it from abadonia.

Thank you very much for your time and effort.

It's a CD-RIP. Open AV.CFG in a text editor and change the first line to...

SourcePath = .

I binded DOS32A into the main executable. It even works under native WinXP NTVDM.
