Hiya!
I have decided to build a win98SE machine, for those nice windows glide/d3d games of ~1996-2000 (croc, tombraiders, unreal, quake2 etc)
I have no interest in high dos compatibility, if a game runs OK through win98SE then it is an added bonus 😊
What I plan to use is:
1. QDI Advance 10T mobo , VIA based, tualatin support out-of-the-box and I had it since new, I cannot remember any probs with it:
(mine does not have the audio part)
2. socket370 pentium3 , 1Ghz, 256kb cache, 133mhz FSB
3. 2 x 256MB Kingston SDRAM 133mhz sticks
4. Some AGP GeForce card (I have a GF2GTS and a GF2GTS/pro here, maybe I have some other too can't remember now)
5. A voodoo2 sli setup of mismatched 12MB cards (a creative and an orchid one, anyone want to trade one so I get a matched pair? 😁 )
6. A SBLive! 5.1 or a Yamaha Waveforce 192XG card (haven't decided yet) Maybe I add a SW-60XG on the ISA slot ? or use a terattec pci card with a waveblaster header that I have (gonna check model later, but it is crystal based)
7. a USB2 card, a lancard for easy transfers
What do you think? Any objections? Recommendations?
thanks!
