Well, I tested S3 cards pretty extensively and overall they are better than most Cirrus Logic offerings. Cirrus Logic 5430 specifically is trash of a card.

I actually tested and used a Cirrus Logic GD 5446 2 MB card. It was a decent alternative to S3 video cards.

However, I had to run UniVBE very often for LFB and low-resolution VESA video modes. It is also one of these having display issues with Crystal Caves and Secret Agent without patching.
