I'm sorta, kinda, maybe considering buying this old mystery PC as a project.

Anyone care to venture what the motherboard looks like from this very limited eBay listing?

Seller has no info about the PC.

I can see it's ATX, 4 dimms EDIT: Actually, looks like 2x2 different RAM kinds. (1 AGP?) 1 AMR. 5 PCI and and I think I see an ISA lurking in the shadows at the bottom.

There is no ISA slot in those pictures.

Got that exact case here, with the corpse of the house domain controller from ~20 years ago in it. It could do with some re-animation, was a Duron ~800 running Windows 2000 Data Center Server!

I was always fond of Duron, even though PC Gamer said it sounded more like a contraceptive than a processor.

They are a lot more lovable than most celerons for sure, take less of a performance hit.

All of AMD's naming is a bit suspect though...

You saw some sempr0n, so you wanna get athlon with your spitfire, but remember to wrap it with a duron, if she's broadminded you can involve your X2.

Very nice! Have you got a VLB ET4000 and a VLB multi IO cards to put in?

am I the only one throwing a riva128 into a 486 for peek DOS performance? 😁

Today I spent again on a batch of hardware, a variety of CPUs, some of the batch (486) are worth more than all the others, the most interesting one in my opinion is the 486 AMD DX4 120, then there are also two AMD 486 DX2 80, and a Slot1 PIII 533, I have the image of the list, in which there is the description of each single CPU.
According to the seller, they are all working, and I can believe it, they are almost all quite robust, if you have suggestions for CPUs, I will gladly listen to them, I thought that the 120 would be fine in a MB VLB, if I want I have a PCChips with fake cache (not I remember the M9XX model), which if I remember correctly has a voltage reducer.

Not a very exciting retro purchase for me today, but 1 that I'm shocked I finally had to make - I purchased a bunch of IDE ribbon cables!

I don't think I've had to purchase an IDE cable in over 20 years, I always seemed to have an endless supply of them. It seems my supply has finally ran out and with 2 broken cables in as many days it was finally time to get some more.

I picked up this case today, a cheap local find on eBay for a change. Nothing too exciting but obviously finding good condition beige cases is getting difficult now. No yellowing on this one and it's very solid and heavy with nice thick steal. No plans for it at the moment 😀

Today's flea market find is... a QDI KinetiZ 7B and a Duron 1200... which for whatever reason IDs as a Athlon at the same speed.

Well that's an easy one, your BIOS date is March 2001 and the 1200 Duron Morgan launched in November 2001

Noted, although slightly strange to find a Morgan based Duron on a board that predates it.
The case it came from used to house a Sempron, so your previous post was absolutely spot on about those AMD chips 🤣

It could actually be a 12x Sempron in that board then, if it was a caps blown, cheapest replacement board kind of situation. If you can see ceramic it's it's morgan, if you see that organic fibre stuff it's the sempron.

It's a ceramic Morgan, that I assure you of 😀 - DHD1200AMT1B.
Must've been something kind of mid to lower end, like either a feature stripped A7N8X-X, A7V8X-X or a A7V600-X.
Quite peculiar that the replacement is a KT133 (non-A even) QDI mobo. Not that I mind - aside from some Licon caps, the VRM is filled with Nichicon PW caps, something I was really not expecting from QDI.
Even more so as they're factory, and not the result of a recap.

Just picked up a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop. I wanted something for early XP gaming, as I'm finding it harder to get some games from that era to work on Windows 11. I also wanted something smaller because my flight sim setup is already hooked up to my main PC and I don't have room for another tower or desktop at my desk.

I think this should be decent for early XP gaming, as it has a Core 2 Duo and a GeForce 8600M GT in it. It also has Vista installed. I'm not sure if XP would be better, so I'll have to look into it. Here's the specs:

Screen Size: 15"
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2 GHz
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT
Memory: 3 GB

Oh nice find! Yes it looks like you're absolutely right, mine just has a different front panel. It looks like I might be missing some 5-1/4" bay sleds too, that's annoying.

Two voodoo2 and one voodoo3 agp. Untested, unknown condition. A good deal if they work. If not... well it was an auction. Don't judge me 😀

If they dont work there is always teh good chance they just need some minor repairs, voodoo2 its usually the ram ICs Voodoo3s its the caps.

There's also the chance of broken solder on TMU1 legs, the closest to the VGA ports.

I would say its a nice deal, even if they dont work they are still worth a lot due to how simple they are for repairs.

Well simple by comparison to cards with 600 million tiny SMD parts and BGA everything.

The info pic on the back suggests it might be an Enlight case (compare yours on the right with my two current Enlight cases, centre & left)
