Managed to get a hold of this recently, had Windows NT Server installed, Pentium III 733 Mhz, 128MB memory and 2 9GB SCSI hard drives. It still had all the previous data on it from it's previous location, which I have now wiped and would like to reinstall everything fresh, however I have nothing in regards to drivers for this thing, and my internet searching has brought up pretty much nothing ......

I'm hoping you fine people can guide me for where to look for these, this is a photo of the model -

Hope you can help, and sorry if it's a bit lethargic on details, the board itself has no obvious model on it, and there is another card plugged in, a bit long one, which appears to provide some kind of ATI video and SCSI controller.

According to this: https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/c04282250?jumpi … snow-red&ver=23 and this
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDispl … mr_na-c01129717
The "feature" board has NCR(?) U2W SCSI and a ATI Rage II video card plus a Compaq NC3163 NIC.
2002 list these drivers: http://web.archive.org/web/20021018000337/htt … te/20_1120.html
For the NIC it appears to be an Intel 8557/8558 based. Most likely XP SP3 would have all the needed drivers AFAIK.

added: there are two different feature boards, one with NCR scsi and one with Adaptec scsi. You need to check the chipset on the card....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Yep. Open her up and note what you find. Then look for drivers for those chips in whatever OS you intend to put on it. Anything other than WinNT 4.0 would probably have native support for the stuff that Horun listed.

Thanks both, I think I found HP still hosting the drivers here - https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/product?lan … Subtype=9000214 - and even a "Support Pack" which seems to install everything (I cant remember a Windows without a device manager so I dont really know if everything is happy, have to assume it is!).

I did try installing Windows XP SP3 on it, and like you said, everything is installed automatically, so I may just go through device manager on that to see what is what. Server hardware im unfamiliar with, so dealing with SCSI controllers and management related stuff I am not used to (great way to pick up some knowledge I guess!).

You may want to look for a CD called "SmartStart", that came with every Compaq server. It's used to prepare the server and contains drivers, setup programs to configure the servers subsystems such as RAID etc. I think it is still available on HP's web site or their FTP server.

I'd also recommend using the Smart Start CD to install Windows, It'll guide you though setting up RAID, install all your drivers and install Management software lets you monitor hardware. (It's kinda cool if into that kinda thing)

I think SmartStart 5.50 is the final version of G1 servers and older . It supports NT4 and Win2k
You can try the newer ones if you like though
7.20 is the last with NT4 support
7.91 is the last with Win2k

You also have the Service Support Pack, Kind of like a Servicepack, including firmware updates
My notes aren't very clear but I think this is correct for G1 servers
Final version, SSP 2014.06.0 supports Win2008/12
Final 2003, SSP 2014.09.0

You also have the following version but not sure which OS's they cover
2011.09.0
2012.01.0
2012.06.0 (B)
2012.08.0
2012.10.0
2013.02.0 (B)
2013.09.0 (C)
2014.02.0 (B)

Thank you all, tried the Smart Start CD, appears to set everything and and get me into NT without an issue. I think the only obvious thing that wasn’t installed is video drivers but I can sort that one out. No other apparent issues (hard for me to know without device manager 🤣). Thanks again 😀
