Hi all!

I have a really nice ASUS Sabertooth X58(LGA 1366) based system that is currently running a i7 950 CPU, 12 GB RAM and a EVGA GTX 760 SC.
I'd like to upgrade to a 6 core/12 thread Xeon if possible, preference would be a 32nm version. But honestly I'd be really interested in anything I can get that's cheap, 6 core and will work as it should without issues.
Does anyone have a trustworthy list of Xeon CPU's that work reliably in the Sabertooth x58 or experience of running Xeon CPU's in this board.
I don't mind a clock speed drop from the i7 950, happy to trade for more cores/threads.

Should work fine with any of them I am pretty sure... Highest was the x5690. I've seen those go for pretty cheap on eBay recently.

I have that same motherboard and I'm running a x5675 and actually getting better overclocks with it than I did with the old 950 that it replaced.

I used the same settings as used in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo3uaZCFybw&a … nel=TechYESCity on my Sabertooth and easily got 4.5 GHz running stable and actually fairly cool running an old cooler master hyper 212.

I got mine for about $50 a few years ago but now they are probably around $25.

Thanks both.

I've bought a Xeon X5650 from fleabay for a fiver delivered, tested and working(apparently). Done a bit of further digging and these will hit 4 GHz+ on reasonable air cooler all day(I have a fenrir titan). Heck of an upgrade for the price if all goes well.
I'll report back when it arrives and installed. 😀
