Hi all,

Does anyone have the patch that allows Hi Octane to be played via a network or knows where to download the patch? I'm looking on emule and google but can't find it anywhere for download and my Hi Octane version doesn't seem to have that patch installed (at least I don't see a multiplayer option in the menu?).

I guess that is what happens when companies don't want extremely old games (1996) to be downloaded... the stuff gets lost someday. Hopefully, someone still has the needed files...?

Sincerely,
Landorin

This game uses a special protocol for multiplayer. You need to have Netbios loaded in addition to IPX otherwise you won't get the network option. So first try loading netbios as well. If it still does not work here is the patch:

Hi,

As said, I searched a lot around and I did come across the links you provided. Filefront actually does host some Hi Octane patch file but it doesn't seem to be the one having network support (at least the readme doesn't mention it). 😒

Ah wait a sec, is it possible the game only shows the network options if I got all the network drivers loaded?
edit: I think I slowly remember now... many Bullfrog games didn't show a multiplayer option if the network drivers weren't loaded I believe so yeah that might be it.

I wonder how I get netbios working in dosbox...?
