Use the DosBox shortcut keys designed for that purpose.
how do i play an avi file? It plays the sound but no video.
is there a link to where i can download this codec?
The codec is part of the 0.65 release installation.
Look in the Start/Programs/DOSBox 0.65/Video menu,
not sure where it is on linux.
all i get is sound still.
all i get is sound ehenever i select the file, i have tried windows media player, Real player, and VLC and i always get just sound. no video. there should be a tutorial.
A tutorial about how to play avis??
Maybe try it on a different pc, both recording new avis and playing them
on your pc, as well as playing your recorded ones on a different pc
(which has the codec installed).
And you could open the file in virtualdub to see if both streams are present.
not to play avis, i dont know. whenever i make a video using dosbox all i get is sound. thats all i know.
i know it comes with zmbv but i dont know hot to install it.
ok, i am making progress, but when i tell it to install it pops up and says installation failed.
Clicking on the link in the start menu should work, unless your file assosiations are messed up.
What OS do you have?
i got it to work. thanks. is there anyway to make it work in windows moviemaker though?
I dont know if this will work because I don't use Windows Movie Maker but you could try to install ffdshow (it's basically a DirectShowDecoder to decode.... everything). I don't know if that will work with WMM. Its quite possible though, as the decoder supplied with dosbox seems to be vfw (old) instead of direct show (new).
Download ffdshow here, take care while installing to click the field for ZMBV support (it's unclicked as default).
