To the super heroes of DOSBOX.

Shufflepuck café (Broderbund) is an old dos game
which used Pc Speaker Sound.

Problem: this game plays sound samples through PC Speaker in
intro and ingame (tested some years ago with old 386).

Is it possible to implement a feature which plays samples through
Pc Speaker?

Thanks to the super team of Dosbox finding and feeling my imaginations
of the old days giving me some kind of luck.

hmm not sure what you mean, but

if the game uses the pcspeaker. That sound is emulated inside dosbox and send to SDL which in turn sends it to your sound device/card.
Not your pc speaker.

I think I understand you.
You want the sound the game played through the PC speaker to be played through the PC speaker too when emulated through Dosbox.
As Qbix said dosbox sends it to the soundcard.
Why do you want this?
Do you have a computer without a soundcard?

I think he is referring that he recalls samples playing through pc speaker (digitised? - in an old 386) and now they aren't playing anymore. Right? - Some sort of heavy timing issues? Realsound?

I mentioned this in a previous thread about Toppler. Several games and programs used this technique, like Barbarian, NowSpeak (text-to-speech program) and I also got a wave driver for Win 3.1 for PC speaker. The problem maybe is with the emulation, speakers had some nasty sounds when changing frequency and muting it quickly, producing clicking, screaching and stuff.

It would be cool if this was fixed, isn't it possible for DOSbox to use the PC speaker instead of emulating it?

Sorry for this late answer...

I don't mean the sound which should be played through the real hardware pc speaker.

The old game played not "beeps" through pc Speaker but sound samples i think (ex.: glass breaks in this game...it makes "klirrrrrrr" not beep).
With Dosbox the sounds seem to be played very very slow.

is it now plausible?

Thanks anyway to all answers
