I would like to know if it's planned for next versions to have non-normal scalers to scale to any resolution (i.e. have tv2x scaler scaled to 1920x1080).

They work fine with Directdraw output but it doesn't with the rest, and since I'm a Linux user I cannot use it 🙁

Some posts state that it should work with the overlay output, but it doesn't.
