And I was wondering if there's a recovery floppy set or CD for the machine (It came with PC-DOS and Windows 3.1 along with a bunch of preinstalled stuff

It would have been a recovery CD-- unfortunately IBM recovery media for their desktops is as scarce as OS/400 installation discs. No one has kept an active archive and I don't believe they're legal to distribute (because they deploy a registered version of Windows).
Only solution would be to find a copy online somewhere or if someone has an ISO of it.

Actually I lied, here's *A* recovery disc for 2168:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-Vintage-IBM-Bundl … =item51c9168965

This page here outlines every single Aptiva recovery disc PN: http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/deca.htm

The discs for 2168 are: 07H1634 and 41H7875, that listing on ebay has 41H7875.

Keep in mind there are many sub types for 2168, the disc listed on ebay is for (M31, M41, M51, M52, M53, M55, M56, M57, M61, M62, M63, M71, M72, M91). So if your system doesn't fall under that you'll need a different PN.

Cheers,

Cheers,

Might go ahead and start saving up for it now (Though I already have the keyboard)

I have an recovery image for an Aptiva 2168-931. That is the on with Opti-Viper-Chipset + the diskette image needed.

EDIT: You Aptiva is a 486, so probably this won't work 🙁

Hi, I also just got an IBM Aptiva model 350 machine type 2168-26P, with hard drive removed. Did you find any recovery software?
