No movies running Starship Titanic on Windows XP

in Windows
I've installed Starship Titanic today on Windows XP. This game, by Douglas Adams, almost runs even without compatibility modes, but there's one problem, the movies don't show. The game doesn't hang or anything, and the audio plays just fine, but the screen's black. ST doesn't seem to use this format …

Re: IPX Issues

in DOS
Note: I haven't tried this out myself, and I have no experience running IPX/SPX, so for whatever this is worth... My first thought was to go to the Local Area Connection Properties, and click Install. You can then click Protocol, and Add, and install the Nwlink IPX/SPX/Netbios Compatible Transport …

Re: How to install HEXEN II on Win XP ?

in Windows
I'm using an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro. I don't know about DirectX, I mean 9.0 wasn't even around then, was it? Besides, Hexen II uses OpenGL. You could try upgrading, though. I use 9.0c, I downloaded it of the Microsoft site.

Re: How to install HEXEN II on Win XP ?

in Windows
Weird, though I don't have the French version, it so happens that I installed Hexen II on windows XP just recently. I had no problems installing the game. I started setup.exe, and clicked Install. The only thing is that in most cases you must remove Opengl32.dll from the install folder, it only …

Re: TRx Texture Feedback

What I mean with "She's supposed to look like Lara" is that even though ever incarnation of Lara looks different, she has a certain "look" within each version, and I feel that look shouldn't be changed, or you change the look of the version itself. I think the hires textures of the surroundings are …

Re: Rendition wrapper would be nice...

According to ATI (http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/3023.html): The ATI3DCIF.DLL is supported by ATI's ATI 3D RAGE I, 3D RAGE II, 3D RAGE II+, 3D RAGE IIC, 3D RAGE PRO, and 3D RAGE LT PRO based products. This DLL is not supported or used by non-3D RAGE products or ATI's RAGE 128 based cards.

Re: running old dos demos

Panic may be a bit of a problem. It starts, but runs way too fast, and then hangs displaying a red volcano. On the other hand, after enabling only the essential drivers, Second Reality, and Unreal seem to run just fine. I don't know how exactly they're supposed to look, but they run to completion, …

Re: running old dos demos

I've seen a few of the old DOS demos back then, but I'm by no means an expert. I've found two demos, Ctstoast, and Machines, the winner and runner-up of Assembly 96 I think, and have had some success running them on my Athlon 1.33 GHz, 512 Mb, Ati Radeon 9600 Pro. I do admit I use an ISA Soudblaster …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

Dege, Thought you might like to see the log! So here it is. Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

Am I really the only one that can't play TR1 with 1.22? Or is it only TR1 that's affected? Anyway, I've tried the new version on my own computer, and just to be sure, on the wife's computer, which has an AMD Duron 800, and an Nvidia Geforce 2 MX, but on both computers it's running *extremely* slow. …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

Dege, The 'test partiton' is a fairly fresh install of Windows XP, updated with SP2 RC1. I use this partiton to betatest SP2 RC1. It doesn't have many programs installed, compared to the work partiton I use most of the time, like a mailserver, an antivirus scanner, a popup-blocker, a download speed …

How to run Pandemonium 1 3dfx?

in Windows
Is there a way to run the 3dfx version of Pandemonium 1? The normal version works just fine, even under Windows XP, but it's looking very crude. Now I know about the Glide wrappers, and about Glidos and dgVoodoo, but this game doesn't use glide2x.dll, or even glide2x.ovl, but glide.dll, the 2.1.1 …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

Dege, I get no error messages, I just get missing textures if I enable W-buffering. Emulate W-buffering seems to work fine though, and I understand you've fixed the swimming textures bug, so I'm looking forward to trying a new version. Unfortunately, I just can't get dgVoodoo to run on my normal XP …
