Re: 40 Column Text Mode Issues

-non-booter AGI -cga switch still doesn't work when machine=vga. This switch forced EGA AGI games to run in CGA colors (two palletes changeable by Ctrl-R) on VGA machines. This has been fixed by wd. And in which CVS this can be found? There are so many CVSs, I just hope all the correctly improved …

Re: 40 Column Text Mode Issues

Are you using the same computers and DOSBox sound buffer and sample rate configuration settings with comparing sound output in 0.63 and CVS? There is a possibility that you're unintentionally introducing the sound artifacts by using too small of a buffer or by having analog input lines unmuted on …

Re: 40 Column Text Mode Issues

the textbox is indeed a bit weird. I'm not entirely sure what could be causing it. Well, it appears the CVS build I downloaded had core=dynamic in its DOSBOX.CONF. Once I changed that to core=normal, the problem was eliminated. Incidentally, I had the problem more than a decade ago when I changed …

Re: 40 Column Text Mode Issues

You're probably not seeing a difference with normal2x in fullscreen because you're probably running in too low of a resolution. You need to be running in at least 640x480 or so (640x400 may work as well). No, I got my resolution set to fullresolution=1024x768 and fullfixed=false. While a programmer …

Re: What is the Tandy support

Ok, thanx. Now what about the other stuff I wanted to know? When I ran the configuration program for SQ3, I saw that the game has a support for Tandy 1000 SL, TL, HL series sound card, but when I choose it and run the game under DOSBox (when machine=tandy) the game kinds of hangs at the beginning. …

Re: 40 Column Text Mode Issues

Ah, you're right. I had to magnify it to see what you were talking about. You're not using a scaler in DOSBox are you? (i.e. anything other than scaler=none) The untouched DOSBOX.CONF file that comes with DOSBox 0.63 is set to scaler=normal2x, why isn't that OK? Besides, I tested KQ1 Tandy with …

Re: Booter games compatibility overview

Well, DOSBox apparently does not emulate a 2-drive system (A: and B:) when loading booters. I tested it with KQ2, it asks the save disk to be inserted to drive A:, and it does that only on single-disk systems. I found some more booter issues with DOSBox 0.63. First, why can't DOSBox boot a read-only …

What is the Tandy support

I'm confused as to the true nature of Tandy. Was it a different computer than IBM? Or was it just an IBM with specific hardware (Tandy video card, Tandy sound card)? Since there's Tandy emulation in DOSBox, I believe it was an IBM computer. I have the KQ1 Tandy booter, and it works under DOSBox only …

Re: Booter games compatibility overview

I don't have any game that actually requires this setup, but in KQ2 and Black Cauldron you can put your game disk in drive B: instead of swapping between the game disk and the save disk on drive A:. However, you also must have the option to switch disks in drive A: in KQ2, because the booter …

Re: Booter games compatibility overview

is there a possiblity to make a two-drive boot? What I mean is, boot an image from drive A: while also having a differnt image in drive B:. The problem is, if Ctrl-F4 is used to switch between images in drive A:, you'll need a different key to switch the images in drive B:. And on a different …
