Re: hello, another beginner needs help

in DOS
I'd recommend checking this forum for the latest VDMSound 1.2.0 (beta) and use it instead 2.0.4, because it has a kindlier installer for newbies. I would forget abandon loader if necessary. I don't think you really need it and I prefer to run a program/game by myself. DosBox doesn't have nothing in …

Re: Tie Fighter (In Pure DOS)

in DOS
This doesn't relate directly to your problem, but I hoep you were not expecting legacy 3Dfx support from the Voodoo4. From the Voodoo3 onwards it was impoosible to get "older" Glide games to work with 3Dfx's own cards. Maybe grab a Voodoo2 and slap it in there too! (The voodoo 1 sometimes has …

Re: In Cold Blood on XP

ok you didn’t really provide much info on your computers set up. But if your talking about the movies not playing back smoothly then it has to do with your CD ROM. I played the intro movie off the hard drive (using the bink video tool kit) and it ran fine so I’m guessing my CD ROM is too slow... …

Re: Longbow 2

Acctually after I wrote the message I tested it in XP (first test was done in Windows 98 SE) and there it worked but I couldn't get any sound but thats an issue with my soundcard driver. It's an issue with everyone using 3dfx Longbow 2 + XP... http://teachers.net/mentors/comptech/topic4105/7.29.03. …

Re: I-war problems

VDMSound will not help a Windows game like I-War. It's only for DOS games. ACT 3.0 might, if you know how to use it. Please read and/or add to this thread for Terminator Skynet. It's going to be hard to get going anyhow, just a warning... http://www.vogons.org/showthread.php?threadid=1381 My guess: …

Re: Interresting... I-war Defiance

I found this to be informative - the only posting I've seen anywhere about successful execution of I-War (original, not extra crispy) under a Glide wrapper. http://google.com/groups?selm=7i3cr...0nnrp1.deja.com Perhaps the switches and settings mentioned can help get OpenGlide working with it. Also, …

Re: system shock slow mouse

Nice one mate. I'd tried changing mouse speed to fast in windows before, but found it didn't change anything in game, I hadn't thought to go back into windows once the game was started. All this time I was assuming it was some compatability error or something, didn't think to look at what was …

Re: I-war problems

Hmm... This is not an OpenGlide problem yet, this should be in The Guide -> Windows forum. Once you have it working in Windows in software mode and wish to test 3dfx mode through OpenGlide, then it becomes an OpenGlide problem. Moderators, please move. 1. Run the install program using various …

Re: Mouse problems with Steel Panthers+VDM Sound

in DOS
Well, like I said it appears to be a dead site now... I can't even find an archive of it on the "Wayback Machine". It is, actually, there. http://web.archive.org/web/20020603003407/http://www.minnemacs.com/manyhighways/sandbox/xp.html But now it's here, too: http://www.longhighway.com/sandbox/xp. …

Re: Longbow 2

Well, that's weird. Longbow 2 allegedly worked with Creative's Unified Glide wrapper (v1.16), and possibly even ye olde XGL200 (by Scott Cutler, now of NVIDIA). Hmm... Did Craig send you Longbow 2, Paul?

Re: cannot install...

Hello, My Add Hardware Wizard in the Control Panel doesn't detect waveforms.raw at all... Patchlog.cfg was also not detected, but it was accepted when I changed the extension to .cf. system: Windows 98SE (japanese edition). Wow, it's DJ Hally of VORC.org! Hally, Stiletto says hi... (See: http:// …

Re: Dos Driver for Realtek ALC101(AC-97 based) Chipset

in DOS
I'm tyring to get Digital Sound in Tyrian working... For some reason VDMSound did not solve the problem (Tyrian files already patched to deal with the TP delay issue.) I also can't get sound out of Wolf3D (but then this does funny things on my video card so I doubt I'll get it working. Suprisingly …

Re: Dos Driver for Realtek ALC101(AC-97 based) Chipset

in DOS
thx m8 Does this mean this worked for you? I highly doubt it - not all AC97 chips are alike. The ALC101 is a AC97 2.2-based chip, most of those have no DOS drivers. Best bet - boot Win95 and use the VXD drivers available from Realtek. This provides SB emulation in a DOS window. OR - someone port …

Re: well, I lost my ebay bids.

I don't know if you have this already but I also have a MPU-401 reference manual. This one is listed as version 1.5 (dated 5/29/85). This manual is very detailed and lists about everything a programmer should know about sysex data and how to control the MPU-401. It also has a rom versions delta …
