Check the config program on FF7 without patching. It definetely will show you "8 bit paletted textures fail". With the Riva TNT patch this setting is just ignored and worked around. So could be that it is only check but nevertheless this is very likely to be the reason, why the game doesn't run. 😉

I already did this and applied patch v2.05, but this doesn't help. But my question still stands. The official remedy is setting: FILES=40 and BUFFERS=40 in the file CONFIG.SYS. Riddle of Master Lu Freeze

While playing the game "The Riddle of Master Lu" the game freezes at the conversation with the gardener Wolf. This was already a problem in pure DOS and the help lines suggest to set BUFFERS and FILES to 40 in the file CONFIG.SYS. How do i achieve something similar in Dosbox?

You don't need Dosbox, only ScummVM. There is a Readme file included, when you install the program; this should help you get the game running. If you have further problems you should ask in the forum of Scummvm (http://forums.scummvm.org) and not here!

Toonstruck has an Auto feature which automatically introduces the scan lines, if your system isn't fast enough to play the FMVs in full resolution (which unfortunately still seems to be the case in Dosbox). No, not really. I still have such a PC (Laptop 2 years old) with Windows XP installed. System Shock in higher resolutions is still way better playable with VDM Sound than with Dosbox.
