Ensoniq's Soundscape cards didn't need EMM386. The AUDIOPCI, a very cheap chip which Ensoniq created to try to cut costs, started that. In fact, Soundcapes didn't even need a TSR of any sort. A Sound Blaster PCI 64 is an AUDIOPCI. Ensoniq's AUDIOPCI will definitely run in DOS. Creative bought out Ensoniq partly for their DOS driver which emulates a SBPro almost perfectly. Creative couldn't get it working. Heck there was a special connector on some boards for the freak AWE64 PCI that …

Anyone ever figure out how to get this game running stable? I can stand the sound problems, but not a crash every 3 mins. I'm running it in XP with VDMSound. I also tried VPC 2004 but it won't even start in there....just kills VPC with some odd error.

It works great in pure Win98. It also will run in VMWare under 98. It may also work in Virtual PC for Windows XP. VPC is really very good, emulating a SB16 in DOS without any special drivers and a S3 Trio with VESA 2 support!

You guys should just pick up a quality DOS card on Ebay. They go for soooo cheap these days. None of the PCI Sound cards really do a decent job.
