Have you tried running it with the oldest drivers possible for the 970? I don't know if I've tried the game on anything newer than a Radeon HD 2900. Banshee or any of the Voodoo3 cards (including V3 1000 8MB) would be great too. Of course prices are nuts these days. The issues with NVidia cards are many have blurry VGA, if they have a fan it probably needs to be replaced, and they don't get you Glide and that is unfortunate for early 3D games.

I used to have a 775i65G (R2.0 I think). It worked well. I preferred to use a 800 MT/s CPU in it though because with a 1066 MT/s processor the POST initialization time was dramatically longer. I never tried a quad.

The original Radeon is codenamed Rage 6. So I suppose Rage 3 could be Rage Pro and Rage 4 could be Rage 128. I'm not sure what 5 would be. Rage Fury Maxx or Rage XL perhaps.

I like PSP 7. It's so fast on modern machines. But I also own 2022 and it certainly has a lot of useful additions. I barely did anything graphics related in DOS. In Windows 3.1 I remember using Aldus Photostyler occasionally.

First, whichever gets you the clearest VGA signal. For 2D speed they are probably similar. The Radeon 7000 should be around twice as fast for 3D and look nicer. A Pentium Pro will be a bottleneck for them in 3D though.
