Re: Sonic CD

in Windows
Ah. Well, no, I wouldn't like to buy Win95 (don't even know where I can find it) for one single game in an attempt that might not work... Thank'yall, I guess it's rather hopeless. I'll change my strategy, see if I can find anyone who also has a SegaCD and copy his Sonic CD, if they have it. It's …

Re: Sonic CD

in Windows
Hah, that explains why I didn't find VMWare - I was looking for VWware. But, am I reading this wrong or do I then need to install the operating system I want to do the emulation in, in this canse Win95? 'Cause I don't have that. This is a lot of information, and VMware Workstation 5 seems to be the …

Re: Sonic CD

in Windows
HunterZ - yes, I did (I said so in my "edit", too). DosFreak - Yes, about that, could you tell me what the official page for those emulators is, if there is one? I«m sorry, but I couldn't find one just Altavista'ing. If you could be so kind as to link me, or - even better - show me where I should …

Re: Sonic CD

in Windows
Ok, I'll check it out. And as regards to my "backwards compatibility" comment, I apologize. That's what happens when I talk out of my arse about many different things - I was lumping together this and every other little random thing that makes some games unplayable in XP. EDIT - Well, it looked …

Re: Sonic CD

in Windows
Thank you for your explanation - it really seems like those folks at Microsoft are dead set against "backwards compatibility". I would very much like to check out that option, but I'm *really* in strange territory here. Is that something I'd have to look for in my system? If so, where? Or something …

Sonic CD

in Windows
So I've recently acquired this very old, er, oldie. But when I try to run it it tells me I don't have a "DCI compliant" graphic card, and I need one. Since I had no idea what that was, I just tried compatibility modes galore - no luck. My main problem is that I don't even know what DCI Compliant *is …

Re: Tomb Raider 5 (aka Tomb Raider Chronicles) XP trouble

in Windows
Gospelgeek's? Which is that? I found several XP patches, but I think they're all the same. I got mine from... er, www.tombraiderchronicles.com or something - don't hold me to it, something of the sort. EDIT - Nevermind, I googled for it, and it seems to be the same one. Well, thanks, but it didn't …

Tomb Raider 5 (aka Tomb Raider Chronicles) XP trouble

in Windows
I wonder if anyone can help me. I've been trying to run TR5, but it simply won't load. I get the XP message that goes, "The program has found a problem and will be shut down", having the following info: AppName: pctomb5.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: kernel32.dll ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 0002544d …

Gabriel Knight 3 on XP

in Windows
I used not to be able to run GK3 on my XP - I got a "Fatal Exception" of some sort. I came to this forum, and no one could help me. But I now found out why this happened - a certain DVD related file got in the way of GK3. Everyone who is also having this problem should create a BAT file in the …

Re: Inherit the Earth

in DOS
Maybe not, but since my expertise on DOSBox is absolute zero, those little non-fancy changes might have been critical. 😀

Re: Inherit the Earth

in DOS
Well, I'll link to the thread that helped me. I still had problems later, though, and it other people still have it, try, in the dosbox conf file, setting "scaller=none" and "core=dynamic". Then fiddle with the cycles until you're happy. http://www.wyrmkeep.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17

Re: Inherit the Earth

in DOS
Ah, got it working! I went to the official forums, and got some help. Seems like I had to configure other things in DOSBox. Thank'yall anyway!

Re: Inherit the Earth

in DOS
Argh. I wish I could say it helped, but it didn't. But I DID notice something. When using VDMS, most times there's just the aforementioned error. BUT, occasionally - usually on the first time I try to run it after a long while - I get a message, on my windows taskbar, saying something about the …

Re: Inherit the Earth

in DOS
Whoops, I forgot to mention something important - in my DOSConf, I have, in autoexec, [autoexec] # Lines in this section will be run at startup. mount D D:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -ioctl mount C C:\ C: ...so that suggestion had already been tried, sorry bout that. Out of curiosity, I tried a simple " …

Re: Inherit the Earth

in DOS
Sorry, MiniMax. Sorry, Qbix. Minimax, I get the feeling that you're kinda... "angry" is too strong a word, but "displeased" might be it, with me. Probably because of the sarcasm in my first post. I apologize, I was just too stressed - I played this game a lot and have very fond memories of it, and …

Re: Inherit the Earth

in DOS
Well, I hate playing gasmes without sound, especially when it's talkie games, so I'm afraid that's not an option...

Re: Inherit the Earth

in DOS
Well I'll be! DOSBox 0.63 installed it flawlessly! Thank you and thank you and thank you again! EDIT - Nope. False alarm. I can't run the game. The VDMSound version I'm using: yeah. it might be a "b" version... I don't know, I just copied/pasted the number at the top of the "CHANGES.TXT" file. When …

Re: Phantasmagoria 2 Problem

in DOS
1 - They're ugly. 2 - Make sure that you have that "enable low-level cd-rom acess" thingy checked ON in the VDMSound properties.
