Playing Windows 95 Games on Windows 10 Through Emulation

in PC Emulation
I'd love to run older games like Odium, and such, but I am unsure if there is a way to emulate Windows 95 with 3D acceleration to get it to work. I'm thinking about purchasing a copy of Windows 95, and am unsure of which version of VMware to purchase along with that. Any help will be greatly …

Re: Dosbox 0.74 Crash on startup

in DOSBox General
I wonder if that is working correctly with the up to date development code of SDL 1.2x Good news! I just updated Windows 10, and the controller is working perfectly in DosBox again; apparently, I had a bad patch before that I was able to fix up just now. Thank you Dominus, and the rest of you for …

Re: Dosbox 0.74 Crash on startup

in DOSBox General
OK, I tried what you have recommended, and it still crashes on startup. I have even tried playing the GOG DOS games that I have purchased, and all of them do the exact same thing, and simply do not start. I can go ahead, and post my DxDiag to see if anything is wrong. I am unsure if the recent …

Dosbox 0.74 Crash on startup

in DOSBox General
I tried to start DosBox as I normally would to run Wolfenstein 3D or another game, and when the second box appears, it never progresses to the command prompt, and simply crashes with the usual white box that prompts the user to close the program or report to Microsoft. Tech Specs: Operating System: …

Re: New Computer!!

Thanks for all of your inputs. Yeah, I do realize that what I have isn't exactly the best, although I was pretty much going for a budget PC that can play today's game just fine. Sure, it is not a high-end core i5, or an i7, but it does the job for now. Maybe my next one is going to be a core i10 or …

Realms of Chaos on DosBox

Hello, I've been able to fire up practically all of my games okay, but with Realms of Chaos, the first episode works fine, but when I get to the second episode, level 1, the game crashes when water deaths occur. I remember having this problem with my PC DOS computer 12 years ago. As usual, here are …

Re: New Computer!!

Matching MSI motherboard and graphics card (I assume because I see red details)? Looks nice! Btw what does that Fx-8350 equate to? I've been on blue lands since the Core2Duo era, and AMDs recent processors have been too lackluster to sway me, so I have no idea of how powerful that processor is. Its …

New Computer!!

Hi guys, its been a millennium since I posted here. Was crazy about the PS3 and such last gen, but this gen, I'm going all the way with this!! I've got a new PC with some amazing specs! CPU: AMD FX-8350 RAM: 8 GB Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 Storage: Samsung SSD 250 GB and a WD Mybook 2 TB …

Heretic -- Character Runs in Circles

I was told to post this on the DosBox forum. Here is my problem... When I play this game for some period of time, the character starts to run in circles, and my keyboard won't respond to any commands except Ctrl + Alt + Delete to bring up the task manager, and even then things are a bit messy as I …

Heretic -- Character Runs in Circles

in DOS
When I play this game for some period of time, the character starts to run in circles, and my keyboard won't respond to any commands except Ctrl + Alt + Delete to bring up the task manager, and even then things are a bit messy as I need to pull up DosBox and click on the window to have the character …

Re: XBox One unveiled

in Milliways
Meh, I am not too fond of MS consoles, since the 360 I had was one of hundreds of thousands to millions that have red-ringed on me, and that alone is deal-breaker to me, and I have had my PS3 since 2007, and it still works as good as I got it on day one, not to mention that the controller is much …

Re: They still make new 4:3 screens.

in Milliways
4:3 in 2013? That's something, considering that 16:9 is becoming obsolete now as many TV channels have already moved on to an even wider aspect ratio. The last 4:3 I had was a Samtron monitor from 2002.

Re: Computing pet-peeves

in Milliways
Many would disagree, but one of my computing pet-peeves are online only games with no ending to it, or a co-op mode. I had trouble getting into World of Warcraft, mainly because the game was subscription-based and there was no real story, or ending to it in my opinion, at least. I also do not feel …

Re: DOS Gaming Years and Rise of the Triad

in Milliways
Yes, the site was indeed very appealing, as the updated screenshots never failed to impress. I am certainly looking forward to this classic having new life breathed into it as I did not even know that this remake was in production, until I heard about it a couple of weeks ago, I think.

DOS Gaming Years and Rise of the Triad

in Milliways
Many of you will know me quite well as I have been on this great forum since 2004, but my DOS gaming experiences trace further back to 1997 when I played Doom for the first time on a good old 486DX with Windows 95. I have just recently heard that Rise of the Triad is being remade by Interceptor …

Re: Most annoying enemies in a game?

in Milliways
Hm... This is a tough one.. I would have to go with the creepy hand from Blood that can kill you in an instant, it also scared the crap out of me when I first played it a few years back; gosh, despite the old age of the game, it still has some really creepy stuff in it, and the worst part is the …
