Re: GeForce warning?

TRGrrrl : but what nVidia drivers version do you have installed ? Personally I've seen dramatic variations occur with graphic driver changes. At any rate, lately it's Detonator 44.xx for WinXP with a nVidiaGeForce 2 card. No "hesitation" whatsoever that I can see as I play TR1 and TR UB.

>but how 'bout VDMSound does it work with Win9x? Well, see the thread in Vogons > VDMSound > Development > Win9x + VDMSound **ALPHA** I just posted a message therein lately to report on my own "testing"

Re: Woodruff

yep, compatibility mode sort of works, but it's always been giving me warnings about low memory (300 to 2,600 KB missing) and even if these may be disregarded since the game will start anyway, the 8 bit colors thing is fine, but the point is 640*480 res. setting just never gets through : I keep on …

is a Windows game, it has problems running exacting 256 color display which afaik is not that viable with modern video adaptors... One solution I tried out is using Virtual PC to create a Win9x machine, the emulated card in there is S3 Trio 32/64 PCI and apparently can stand the WinG drivers …

Re: Win9x + VDMSound **ALPHA**

This is to report that while evaluating VMware workstation 4.02, creating a Win9x guest OS where the soundcard works properly, but no support exists for sound in dos games (the emulated sound adapter is SB Ensoniq AudioPCI) I tried VDMSound alpha for Win9x in there. Gameplay is generally a bit slow, …

Re: No Music, but sound. o_O

Generally, HunterZ is absolutely right when he talks about "enjoying DOS games much more using WinXP and VDMSound " vs. a dos session, but aside from this (I don't think my sound card has any DOS drivers anyway). My sound card is a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! well I also have a SB Live and …

Re: how to make a screenshot in VMDsound games

SnagIt, sure. It does make it right. Although I can understand why GiminiC had called it useless, because with no less than 3 old games I saw it fail too. Every time it was a game which wouldn't keep running when I tried to Alt+Enter it into a window or a dos box. Anyway my post was focused mostly …

Re: how to make a screenshot in VMDsound games

Better late than never.. sorry I had overlooked this interesting thread. GiminiC if you're still there, as far as my experience goes I've been using the following programs to take screenshots from dos games : a shareware called Pcxdump v. 9.31, which I found very handy on machines using such video …

Re: TOmbraider and VDMSound

Mr. Unregistered : In case you didn't sort it out yet. Take note that TR 1 sound is actually the outcome of a 'concerto' played by two components : the 'noise' i.e shots, steps, Lara's voice etc. and the 'soundtrack' music from the title's theme to all the tunes, the secret areas' chime, gusts of …

Re: Sam & Max Hit The Road "No Sound"

Re: How to get Adlib sound support on WinMe?

Quickbeam: >Still can't get EMM386 running in pure DOS. I wonder if it's a compatibility issue or something? I may be way too late for this posting, but in case you didn't find out yet, there IS such a compatibility problem between WinME (and its EBD) and emm386.exe which is precisely what the sb …
