Just sounds like Blu-ray Discs and the seller is using confusing terminology. Nothing fancy about the discs or codecs as they're BD compliant. Can someone re-up the ISO please? I have a MaxiSound ISIS card (with SAM 9707) as well as a Terratec EWS64S (with a SAM 9407). Great cards. Happy to test anything if people want. FYI, MOD4WIN supports hardware accelerated MOD playback using the 9407. I haven't tested it on the 9707 though.

Just tried on my NEC Versa C140 laptop (which has been stuck on a pile for ages because it's not the most amazing spec, but this would make it somewhat useful), and it initialised okay (VT8231), plus the FM Emulation loaded, but I couldn't get any sound output sadly. Anything I can do to help …

Looking at the board, it appears to have a 512K chip with a space next to it which is unpopulated - I guess you could potentially solder another 512K chip there for 1MB onboard, and then add a 1MB module. The CL GD 5428 can take up t0 2MB total so theoretically this would be doable.

There could be, depending on how old the current firmware is. Do have a play with the settings, even after doing the auto setup on the image - doing some improved the image quality for me when capturing from a 3DFX card.

Just use an old PC. Even going back 15 years to a Core 2 Duo will not be a bottleneck for the card. Running it on anything newer is utterly pointless and unnecessarily painful as you've found.
