dosbox's wd/kekko's voodoo->opengl (damn slow lens effect of a scope mode - it can be turned of in game's config file but not for night mode). Get a better graphics card/pc. 😉

Am I doing something wrong or it should be like that? The first, this is fully a software-only problem then (char translation to/from the disk image which is done by dos/dos device drivers).

Incoming SDL 2.0 can manage multiple output surfaces. Incoming SDL 2.0 is in a very useless state that may not change till a release looking from what it targets.

SDL 1.3 has moved away from a simple directmedia player to a thin layer to 3d graphics for 2d along with input device support.

I always thought dos32a's speed was a placebo effect No but the techniques (fast-irq and the likes) are not significant usually. Don't know for this game though.
