Re: Thanks to all that created DosBox !!

The Nobel committee lost whatever credibility they had left after they gave one to Obama for doing nothing. It's not such a high honor anymore. Eh, the Nobel peace prize gone bonkers since the 80s, it didn't start with Obama. However, it's worth mentioning that the peace prize is sort of a Nobel …

Re: DOS Game made after 1997?

in Milliways
Redguard is from 1998. The game installer is a Windows program, but the game itself is a DOS program. Unfortunately, Redguard is not completable with DOSBox. It works fine at first, but it will freeze later at a specific point.

Re: Game has audio but no music

One thing I'm puzzled about : The above screen shows the screen setup to select the MIDI device. There are a few DOS games that offer MIDI configuration even though they never use MIDI. Like Redguard, for example. There is no MIDI music in the game at all, only CD tracks, but the SETSOUND.EXE …

Re: AnDosbox - need help

what I don't get is, why are so many people desperate to run DosBox or Windows on their smartphones? XD I consider UFO: Enemy Unknown to be my best "phone" game ever, one turn here and one turn there, I can play it all day :happyhappy: Although eventually OpenXcom will be a better option, looking …

Re: xBR filter

cibix must feel strongly about this for, for making threads about it both here and on the ScummVM forums. I wonder how many other places he posted on.

Re: DosBox on Mobile Phone

The Nokia 5130 use the S40 OS and isn't good enough to run DOSBox. There is a DOSBox port for the S60 phones from Nokia though, but I would hardly recommend trying it either, unless you want to play games that are over 2 decades old. Newer DOS games will run much too slow simply because the phone …

Re: 256MB XMS

Sounds a lot like hipster bullshitting right now. [snip] In 1995, most (all, rather) game developers were targeting the 4mb and 8mb DOS machine. Whatever this "128mb requiring" 1995 game is right now with the pretentious names that was posted up seem fictional. Indeed. I can't think of any game …

Re: S40 Dosbox?

I've tried the native S60 executable of DOSBox on my S60 phone and it was too slow to do run pretty much every DOS game made after 1992. Running a java version on a S40 phone would be several times slower, and therefore rather pointless and not really worth the effort.

Re: Devices in use for Dosbox

My PC and my black Nokia E52 (600MHz ARM11 CPU using Symbian OS ). Unfortunately, the CPU is a bit too weak to give an enjoyable gaming experience with UFO: Enemy Unknown which is pretty much the only reason why I want to use DOSBox on the phone to begin with. So now my hope there lies in OpenXCom .

Re: Full Throttle on an iPad with iDOS -- Tips

Sound is very choppy The game's performance is barely playable. It feels as though I'm running it on a computer that's just too slow. The only thing I know to do for this is to press Ctrl-F12 to increase the CPU emulation to 105%. That's as high as it can go. That extra 5% made a big difference …
