Re: Simcity 2000 Midi Synth

in PC Emulation
As a big fan of this game I think this is a really awesome project. I'm 10 years late and I'm sorry for necroposting, but I really appreciated this. I was totally expecting the link to be broken after 10 years, but since it wasn't, I decided to make a copy of this file on the Internet Archive - I …

Re: Welcome to the updated VOGONS

in Milliways
Sorry for being a little too flippant there. That's not cool of me and I shouldn't have said that. It's just a bit of a shock. I'll need to get used to it. It's not bad, it's just...everything is so big now. I liked how neat and compact everything used to be. Nos there's so many frills around …

Re: CF-IDE not working

Does this PC recognize normal/mechanical 32GB HDDs? I doubt it. The symptom you're having is typical for a HDD larger than what the BIOS can recognize. Now about fixing it, assuming that's the case: try updating the BIOS or get a smaller CF -of a capacity that you're certain the BIOS does work with …

CF-IDE not working

Hi all. I thought it would be a fun idea to install a CF to IDE card in my computer, to see if I could run CompactFlash as my main hard drive. Resilient, easy to backup and quiet. So I installed it, but it doesn't seem to work. When booting up, it detects the 32GB card but then it just freezes . If …

Re: Really old DOS games (early/mid 80s)

in Milliways
Thank you :D This is actually precisely what I was looking for. Gonna check these out. A few of them are already familiar, but I didn't recall the names. I actually had that strip poker game on a floppy! If it's the same one I'm thinking of, as a kid I'd rename the files so that you don't have to go …

Really old DOS games (early/mid 80s)

in Milliways
I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips for really old DOS games to play. By the late 80s, DOS game development was starting to get really serious with those awesome LucasArts games that were coming out among other things, but I'm basically totally unaware of what was happening before then, …

Re: Screen/gfx card issue

Thanks for your help everyone :D To my surprise it was actually the cable. Even though I tried a different computer and the screen looked fine, I was recommended (by Harekiet and his experience with absurdly long VGA cables on a ship) to try a different cable anyway. And that actually solved it. I'm …

Screen/gfx card issue

Hi all. I've got this weird issue with my old PC. I think it's the video card but I'm putting this here in case someone more knowledgeable can chime in. Basically it looks like there's a ghost image overlaid and offset over the regular one: http://i.imgur.com/EOlcP3d.jpg http://i.imgur.com/nbX0ZWk. …

Easiest way to get long filenames?

in DOSBox General
Hi all. I'm doing a small project to teach myself some C coding using DJGPP. So far I've gotten my development environment set up and I've written some simple code to get the VGA hardware to draw some stuff. I'm only targeting MSDOS and using DOSBox to test. :) (Though I can also compile outside of …
