I only removed my GUS PnP and packed it away this morning, but it was working in a dual boot 95/Dos 5.02 system with an SB Pro 2. I had trouble with a gus pnp in an irongate board, getting the resources it needed. The drivers also didn't seem to set up properly in 98. The pnp was a 1.0 rev. Now I have it in a BX board under 95 and everything is fine.

I thought I saw somewhere that to get a daughterboard to give sound in DOS, you have to disable MIDI-1 on the EWS64XL. Has anyone tried this? My daughterboards are esconced elsewhere now, but maybe I can try another card doing MIDI sent through the EWS line-in, as that suffers the mute bug too.

I have to hard reboot my machoine every time I boot it up. In other words, each time I start this machije it fails to post, and soft-resets [pressing reset switch] don't help. I have to turn off the power, then reboot and its fine. Any ideas?

Another test is to download vchile.mid. Sounds like crap on anything except an XG board. You WILL know when its coming through the DB50XG.

May be better to use a new computer with Dosbox and see how far you get with the games you want to play. If you find there are Dos games you cannot play with Dosbox to your satisfaction, or Windows games that don't play how you want under XP or whatever, then consider building something based on old …

What the problem you get with RAM above a certain level? I've got two Win98 computers, one with 1gb the other 768mb, both seem pretty stable though I guess I only use them for a few games and music playing.
