legal ? not sure either, but I thought: anyone can download emule and do a simple search, but why download something wrong? so I just gave a valid result... delete it if not right, please 😊

even if you could get the samples out of a db50xg, you would never get the 3 dsp's it uses to apply effects, it will sound dull... perhaps you can get yamaha's software synth, I think it is named: SWY50XG or something...

well, I have the db60xg (not the 50 one, lol) and not the sb16... I'll do some testing with an als100+ pnp card + db60xg... sb16's are 5euro on ebay, but I got so many sound cards the last week, I really don't want another for testing.... man, I have 12 of them here, both isa / pci... also I believe …

AFAIK, SBLINK is for carrying isa irq's/dma in pci soundcards that support it... never tried that though... AWE64 is not very good for dos gaming because is GM emulation is buggy as hell... for games that support it directly it rocks, but for GM is a no-go... I'll go with a sb16 + db50xg for now... …

I have read that the ESS boards do not really have a mpu401, and they use some drivers for that... would it cause probs with a wavetable daughterboard?

Does the above combination require any patch from Creative to work OK? like the Creative "waveblaster patch" sbmpu401.exe??? or does it work ok without it?

update: I chaged m/b, and on setting: PNP OS Installed: I put NO, so now the ISA card appears on boot time (ISA PnP Device Listing) and aweutil now configures 3 of 3 Creative devices! perhaps all will be well now! 😁

at clock??? where is that? I never had to change these settings even when isa was in use, 🤣.... I will exchange the m/b either way, the via one has udma66, sblink, monitoring hardware... 😁

ah, what about an ESS 1688 (or 688?) isa sound card + the dream midi? I remember I had an ESS ISA card way back, it had 100& SBPRO compatibillity + it needed no tsr's, just a little init program, like the als100+ ...

mistakes... the cards are Avance Logic als100+ and the galland sc-8000 wavetable ... any ideas what to use?

nope, the ctmouse is not to blame... it was a mistake of me to blame that... there is something fishy with my m/b, it is a Diamond Micronics c400 BX440 based one... never tested it when it was new with an isa card, I had a yamaha waveforce back then...
