I just figured out the "goto common" bit an hour ago (while trying to figure out why I kept getting "MSCDEX already loaded" messages), but thanks for the note on goto %CONFIG%, I wouldn't have figured that out myself.

In a situation like that, I don't think that the wrong sound card would have an effect like that. Would you mind giving more information, though, such as how you're mounting your drives, how you installed the game, etc?

Well, I've now had success in getting Redbook audio working, just had to dig through Dad's stash of old parts for the right kind of cable...and dig through Google results to find a manual to figure out where the CD Audio input is on the sound card. That's another To-Do List item down!

If you're using some usb->PS2 adapter your mouse has to support that else it won't do anything. It's the adapter that came with the trackball in question - shouldn't pose too big a problem. The only issue is modifying it to fit into this rather idiotic PS/2 port, or else finding some way to purge …

Considering that there are actually DOS games that use the middle mouse button, this would probably break a good number of them, but keep in mind that you can unlock the mouse from the DOSBox window either by Alt-Tabbing out of the window or pressing Control+F10 (I think).
