Re: Across The Rhine 1944 by MicroProse

@You1 - I am glad I did keep most of my older games (have over 300!)!As long as five years ago, I saw that PC gaming was going to go on the slide in terms of quality! I am also glad ebay opened a retro section last year. Recently I got Terra Nova from Looking Glass Technologies and Darklands by …

Re: Across The Rhine 1944 by MicroProse

you1, due to your information and GS_Schimpf's, along with the use of a DOSBox front-end called 'D.O.G.', I have been able to get the game installed and running in DOSBox! :) Thanks guys! I have the game manual somewhere but no ability to scan it, etc. But if you need any keyboard commands, etc, I …

Re: What happened to D-Fend

TeaRex - sometimes you don't know that when the programmer pulls the plug, the utility is going to disappear. You can go to many sites to download something, but you don't know they all go to just one or two servers and when the programmer pulls the plug you still have dozens of places you can go to …

Re: What happened to D-Fend

Erik, how many of those 11,000 downloads tried to utilize the D-FEND profile import into D.O.G. which was my problem. So I am not surprised at your quote I was the only one. But in any event, I tried D.O.G. and had problems. Never had to email or get support for the D-Fend program ever, and have …

Re: What happened to D-Fend

Thanks - but i'll stick with D-Fend as long as it runs the games I want to play! 😀 Maybe one day i'll need to go to another front end, but for now, as you know Erik, DFend has given me less problems than any other front end.

Re: What happened to D-Fend

Thanks, I have it know, was only at the end of what I thought was a diatribe against D-Fend, so didn't get to the end! Well, I have D-Fend know - thanks a lot, and will go back to putting my retro DOS games like Darklands and Terra Nova: Task Force Centauri and Pacific Air War and Task Force 1942, …

Re: What happened to D-Fend

Well the DBGL I downloaded last week didn't have it as far as I saw, but then, I want D-Fend, so I wasn't looking too hard. Why can't I have my D-Fend back after I lost it in my hard drive crash?! Sob sob!

Re: What happened to D-Fend

I also wonder why he cannot just give it to someone to host it. Why oh why, just because he does not want to support D-Fend any more let it die? It has been updated many times and problems have been solved and new ideas implemented, so it is a stable product now with some great ideas in it and the …

Re: What happened to D-Fend

I only put up my message a couple days ago, so nothing yet. But this is one of those cases where there were only a couple download sites owned by the author and he never mirrored it to other servers. This meant when he pulled the plug, there was nowhere else to go. Nobody seems to know this yet as …

What happened to D-Fend

I know the guy didn't want to continue it, but know D-Fend has disappeared off the face of the planet! I like D-Fend, I need D_Fend back (after a hard disk crash), where can I get my D-Fend?! It was the best of the front ends and I never had a problem with it at all. All other front ends seemed to …
