Re: Version 0.74 (Official release) and MB5

Do you a screwdriver to hammer in a nail? Plain and simple, Dosbox is not the right tool for your particular use. It may work to some degree, but the authors have repeatedly stated their intent and direction with the code, and it's not what you are doing. There are a variety of free, even open …

Re: Fullscreen on another monitor?

Unfortunately this has always been a weak spot for SDL (in fairness, SDL was released before it was anywhere near common to have two monitors, and DirectX didn't even support an exclusive framebuffer on the second monitor at that time). I don't think it works in 1.2 regardless of settings. It's been …

Re: no fullscreen

I've tried to change configuration, but nothing changes. Ok, but what exactly did you change? The most helpful thing would be to try different output= options and see what happens. surface, overlay, opengl, ddraw. If you've tried them all and none work, let us know. -Frob

Re: net use command?

No, Dosbox doesn't implement network redirection of a printer. You would be much better off for such tasks in using one of the virtual machine environments like Vmware or VirtualBox. Dosbox is intended as a simulation that allows you to run DOS based games, not a true recreation of all of the …

Re: Pinball Fantasies tearing screen

Usually means that vsync is turned off in your video driver. You can try different output= options or look at the options for the video driver in windows. Try opengl, it's slower for some cards, but for pretty much any of them they vsync when opengl is active. -Frob

Re: DOSBOX stuck my windows please help

DJ, the point is the authors can't support old versions because the code base has changed so much to increase performance/accuracy. You've already demonstrated for yourself that DosBox is not the cause of the actual error. When you run in safemode, DosBox is executing all the same code, just using a …

Re: Running Dosbox on network

my pc using winxp and the program i want to run was on server(centOS). This makes no sense to me. If you are running WinXp, why would you run Dosbox from/on a CentOS machine. Just run it on the XP machine. If you're asking if DosBox can be run from a shared volume on a linux machine (Samba), the …

Re: Screen Lines/Cols

Yes. The Freedos mode command works: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/fre … s/mode/modecon/ I didn't bother to check the DOS one, but I'd wager it does as well. -Frob

Re: Security Device Not Recognized

You might try VMWare, which I know other folks have used with hardware dongle devices before successfully. The player is free, and as long as you have a copy of original DOS around (which the app might be picky about anyway!) you'll be all set. Or you can try Freedos under VMWare if you can't find a …

Re: Save States - Proof of concept

The OP could have just as easily forked DOSBox while releasing the source code and (s)he'd be well within their rights. Well...sure, but that doesn't mean you should. I can wear a t-shirt around with swastika on it (well, except in Germany) legally but that doesn't really make it a sensible thing …

Re: Save States - Proof of concept

Regarding my earlier questions - I wrote the save state for the Atari800 emulator, and a couple of others. Basically you are interested in saving everything that may be read in any form later - while I'm not aware of any DOS programs reading the sound card buffer, if it ever happens, that game will …

Re: Save States - Proof of concept

Currently I'm saving complete RAM, CPU Register, Segment pointer, Video Ram, Flags and Paging. Awesome, great to see somebody talking this. Are you saving the framebuffer along with video RAM? You would probably need to save some meta data associated with Dosbox itself, for instance the CPU …

Re: Major keyboard issues!!

Have you used Dosbox previously, or any other SDL based app that you know of? Dosbox gets its keyboard events through SDL - which occasionally has bugs, but they are pretty rare on something this basic. Is your keyboard type perhaps something fairly rare (under "Region and Language" settings of …

Re: Aspect correction in text modes

A modification that might work is leaving as is when the render framebuffer is less < 4x the area (or < 2x in each dimension) of the original, but otherwise making aspect true. It looks fine once you've got enough surface area for filtering to kick in, but it definitely looks ugly when you have no …

Re: Execute a program on DOSBox shutdown?

I'm a bit confused. How would Taskkill be of help in a batch file running within a DOSBox mounted drive? In other words, the batch file commands above that load a PDF into Adobe (as well as start the Windows Media Player) are contained within the actual batch file that is running under DOSBox. I …
