Re: DOSBox iPhone Port - Work in Progress!

hi lopar, i'm the one who ported dosbox to s60 (smart nokias): nice and working and released. :-) i've done pretty much all the things you're still lacking: touchscreen keyboard overlays for virtual keyboards (mappings loadable form the dos shell :-), arm dynamic core, (relatively fast) rendering to …

Re: dosbox for s60 (symbian) first results

@Admins Please remove the posted downloads form this thread. People should go to sf to download current and upcoming versions (note: the slim, non-dynrec version is also hosted there in the "unsupported" package.) I would also suggest that this thread be closed (with a sticky redirection on top). A …

Re: dosbox for s60 (symbian) first results

i'm feeling a bit overwhelmed here :-) @all: ok. first the good news: sf.net approved, so i'll start uploading the code and docs tomorrow. i really hope some devs will join in... win3.1/95/98 issues. please don't ask. that's really not the immediate focus for the project. if you really want that ( …

Re: dosbox for s60 (symbian) first results

my carbide (ide) just stopped working. anyway, till i get that revived, and sf.net approves the project (i put the request in), thought i'd let the faithful experiment with the last binary i had built. changes (quite a few things, read the NEW readme, and the comments in the attached NEW conf file …

Re: dosbox for s60 (symbian) first results

@qbix, point taken... i'd prefer taking it to sf to keep development (even if not by myself) "centeralized", and hopefully prevent too many multiple versions and instances from floating around. the ultimate goal is still to facilitate a merge into the official dosbox tree, which right now would take …

Re: dosbox for s60 (symbian) first results

i'm close to finalizing the initial release. i'm creatively dubbing it v0.5. i'd like the dosbox guys' thoughts on this: seeing as this port will need several additions to make it useful: t9 input method, virtual keyboard/gamepad for the 5th edition touch-ui devices, and platform specific nuances: i …

Re: dosbox for s60 (symbian) first results

i'll leave the serious benchmarking to the community... :-) my uber-benchmark (eob1 logo sequence) gave these results: - last released dosbox_slim 62 secs - video streamlining brought that down to 46 secs - arm dynamic core (thumb no iw) 32 secs so i'm smiling!!! here, the first and last emoticon …

Re: dosbox for s60 (symbian) first results

1st, thanks to all for "making a stand", appriciate (never could learn how to spell that word) it. as i said earlier i tweaked rendering a bit: undoing some overhead i introduced earlier, setting sdl to use dsa, and letting s60 handle the orientations for me. this gave a boost of 25-30% (my uber- …

Re: dosbox for s60 (symbian) first results

i'm signing off for a while (guessing about a month) mainly because my real life requires some added attention... but i'm also planning to improve my symbianish in the meantime, so i can "nativize" the port a little more. while, as professional i know the effort will probably not be worth it in the …
