Re: Dos Games Humor

in Milliways
well, just any old lucas arts game should do. :) by the way, if someone here speaks german, check out "die drei ??? und das gruene tentakel" (the three investigators and the green tentacle). it mixes game scenes from maniac mansion with clips from the "drei ???" audioplays, which are very popular in …

Re: suse linux beginner's question

i'll second that. suse is fine as long as everything runs smoothly, but once you run into trouble, it's can get messy. maybe it got better, but manual editing of config files and usage of yast can cause problems. instead of a slack-distro you might as well have a look at arch linux ( http:// …

Re: Game controllers

i use an adapter from ems to connect 2 ps2-pads to my linux box. works perfectly without special drivers. the only problem is, that both gamepads are recognized as one large gamepad with lots of buttons and axes, but that's no problem if a program let's you configure the input devices.

Re: suse linux beginner's question

well, the link i posted pointed to a 0.65 rpm for opensuse, but it's suddenly gone... strange... but according to novell they really still include 0.63 in suse 10.1 (http://www.novell.com/products/linuxpackages/ … nux/dosbox.html)

Re: suse linux beginner's question

have you tried to search for dosbox with the package manager (you?) in yast? a search on rpmfind.net brought me to this rpm (http://rpmfind.net//linux/RPM/opensuse/factor … .65-3.i586.html), which looks like it's part of opensuse 10.1.1.

Re: How to configure DOSBox to output mono audio

WhiteKnight wrote: ANy idea how I can determine the Control ID (number) for the Balance sliders? maybe you can cycle through all available controls and check the control type against MIXERCONTROL_CT_CLASS_SLIDER (balance control). just a wild guess, since i basicly have no idea of windows …

Re: How to configure DOSBox to output mono audio

ok, after i read your other thread http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=12357 the problem becomes clearer. back in these days many games had there soundtrack as audiotracks, since they could be played dirctly by the cd-drive, thus wasting almost no cpu time, as they were passed from the cd to the …

Re: Vintage PC demos from Future Crew

maybe you could implement different vgas one day. something like vga-normal and vga-full, which would implement everything possible. the speed decrease will most likely be irrelevant in a few yours. but i understand that this also most unlikely before, let's guess, dosbox 0.92. :)

Re: Switching Windows in Linux

dougdahl wrote: On my system (Redhat) alt-tab works for cycling between Windows, but not under dosbox when the mouse is captured. exactly that is his problem. he descriped it in his example. hence the tip with crtl-f10.

Re: Civilisation I crash down

i tried to locate a .04 version, but i just found an english .01 and a french .05. both work fine with normal and dynamic core. at least the 20 minutes i tested them. do you use a cracked version without copy protection? maybe it's badly cracked.

Re: Civilisation I crash down

i did'nt encounter the problem. i'm running v0.65 with normal core/10000 cycles 16mb ram. (yeah, overkill for civ1) maybe you could try a different version of civ. my version is 475.01 . you can see your version in the blue box on startup where you select graphics/sound/input for civ. the important …

Re: New DOSBox Frontend - DOSBoxGui

you asked for it :) i think a quite obvious feature would be to let the user select the machine-type (vga,herc,...). and it would be nice to be able to define a specific dosbox-executable per game if you have several versions for different games.
