Re: Warhammer:Shadow of the Horned rat

in Windows
If it complained about many missing files, it means that registering failed (or paths were overwritten when you did minimum install). I don't know why, have you copied WARFB in C:\Games? If it was other folder, then you need to edit reg file accordingly.

Re: Warhammer: Dark Omen - Flickering.

in Windows
BTW enabling color cursors is the reason you need to reinstall the game. It stays on and modern video drivers doesn't like it at all. Alternative to reinstalling is to disable this option in registry.

Re: Warhammer:Shadow of the Horned rat

in Windows
1)Copy RMORPH folder contents to your windows\system32 folder. 2)Copy WARFB folder to C:\GAMES folder (or whatever folder you want, but then you'll need to change paths in reg file). 3)Create empty folder TEMP inside WARFB folder. 4)Create folder UPDATE inside WARFB folder. 5)Create folder BINARY …

Re: Gabriel Knight II resource file (re-opened)

in Windows
DosFreak, Athalos asked for 1 file and not the entire game (which he and anyone could get in many places, legally or not, and not bother post for it here). You can assume he has original bad cd, or he stole it, anything. Anyway, as moderator you can ban him or close posts because of your reasons, …

Re: War, Inc. on WinXP

in DOS
Graphics card is Radeon 9550, War Inc runs in 640x480. Looks like 256 colors. I've tried nolfb because otherwise game hangs on startup with black screen. I recall there were no garbled graphics in dosbox. Thank you i'll try this tool.

Re: War, Inc. on WinXP

in DOS
Partial solution found. Game runs without dosbox in WinXP if you run nolfb.com first (make a bat file with nolfb.com and then warinc.exe). I've integated dos32a into executable too. Solution is partial because there are 4 small square areas on the screen wich are black at first and then filled with …

Re: WH Dark Omen

in Windows
You've turned on color cursors in game options. Wrong move. Reinstall, select software mode in options and turn on everything except color cursors.

Re: Hyperblade and Warhammer Dark Omen

in Windows
About DO. Runable in software only. In options use software, max all jptions except color cursors - don't select them or you would need to reinstall the game. If all screen is distorted - too bad, on latest Catalysts and probably Detonators it is. Only solution is to disable DDraw acceleration in …

Win9x games with CD audio in WinXP

in Windows
There is a general problem with games written for Win9x that use CD Audio tracks for music. It seems in WinXP such games rarely play music correctly. 1) CD audio doesn't function at all. Sometimes it is fixed if CD is in CD-ROM with lowest letter, e.g. if you have two CD drives E and F game cd must …

Re: Ultima 8's gone crazy!

I've heard there is windows engine made by fans for running ultimas 6-7 natively in Windows, isn't there same thing for part 8?

Re: Close Combat on XP SP1

in Windows
I recall i've just enabled win95 compatibility mode for setup.exe and it worked... You can try just copy data or similar folder from the cd which contains actual game files and ran cc.exe from hdd with compat mode. BTW, CC3 is the best IMO;)

Re: War, Inc. on WinXP

in DOS
Tried dynamic core. Generally it's almost ok (sound sometimes choppy, maybe try to set sound to 11khz in dosbox options or turn it off), but when unit is destroyed and death animation is played, there is significant lag. Which of display modes is faster - overlay, opengl, ddraw?

Re: Revenant on XP SP2

in Windows
Crash with dialog box, where you can see the usual stuff 'Exception Information'. All compat modes tried - 95, 98/Ме, 2000, Nt4. Same result:) It's Eidos game, but no support on their site found.
