Re: TIE Fighter Graphical Woes

Know what you mean about the music, I do sometimes miss the original music, but once I start playing, I don't notice it anymore. (Odd that, since I'm pretty fussy about stuff like that usually, but guess we're all different that way). Anyway, glad you got it running either way, have some fun! And if …

Re: TIE Fighter Graphical Woes

You should go to Amazon.com and look up the 3D enhanced version of Tie Fighter for Win95, it's dirt cheap, (I paid just 12$ or so for mine, complete with the 3D enhanced Xwing as a bonus). Look for the Xwing Collectors Series, and be sure to pick the one that specifically says it includes Tie …

Re: Season of Sakura

I just installed SOS to check this one out for you, been a while since I messed with it. This game loads a sound driver called PMDIBM.COM to product FM synthesis sound. That message you see means the program tried to run, failed, and quit, after quitting the batch file unloads the sound driver. My …

Re: Kaillera and Dos Box....

Hmm, I'm with Moe here, it'd be one thing to take some game, (even an old Arcade game that actually already had multiplayer, even if only by having two controllers plugged into the same gamedeck/console or PC), and make it playable over the net. But to make an old DOS singleplayer only game into …

Re: The hatred of DosBox

Quote from HunterZ: Another option would be to build a frontend/launcher *inside* of DOSBox, which shouldn't be too hard now that QBix is implementing the ability to change most of DOSBox's configuration settings from within the emulator. I like this idea, kind of like that DOSSHELL Microsloth made …

Re: Road rash

Here's a tip: Look inside the Setup folder on the Road Rash CD, run the setup.exe that is in there instead of the Autorun.exe from the root. You may, (or may not), have to run the setup in Compatibility mode, I can't recall if I had to. Hope that helps, good luck! HunterZ: I'm using the Microsoft GS …

Re: Road rash

Yeah, Roadrash is a Windows game, not a DOS game, DOS-BOX won't help you there. However, I'm curious as to why Road Rash won't run for you. It runs fine for me under Windows XP, without compatibility mode, but I recall I have occasional problems with it's Midi support, which I ended up fixing by …

Re: Config.sys FILES=30 for Tie Fighter

Yeah, I didn't so much mind the changed music, though I found it makes the game a bit more challenging with the new music, as you get no fanfare when allies or enemies enter the battle anymore, which means you must keep your eyes open for the enemy coming. I found that a plus. Only downside I found …

Re: Config.sys FILES=30 for Tie Fighter

I'd suggest Amazon.com, look for the newer 3D enhanced version of Tie Fighter, which works okay on Windows with much better graphics than the original game had. You can get it along with a 3D enhanced version of Xwing for around 20$, (It's called the Xwing collectors series, but look hard, as there …

Re: getting Descent to run smoothly...

Hiya, Thought I'd chime in here. I'm a big fan of the Descent games, I'd suggest giving one of the Direct3D patches a try, since they run under 98/XP. It can take some work getting the 3D version running on XP, but there is also a native software non-3d enhanced version included in the patch that …
