Re: HOWTO: Possible Lagless VSYNC for PC/DOS Emulator Devs (implemented in WinUAE/etc), via beam-raced tearingless VSYNC

Well, one of my colleagues has implemented various frame presentation modes and VRR support in DOSBox Staging, but I admit the whole thing does my head in a bit, I don't fully grasp the subtler details even after repeated attempts... As the resident expert here on "present-to-photons"... ...Let me …

Re: HOWTO: Possible Lagless VSYNC for PC/DOS Emulator Devs (implemented in WinUAE/etc), via beam-raced tearingless VSYNC

Those are some very nice collection of implementation tips, maybe I'll give a go at introducing this to DOSBox Staging at some point. Just the payoff for me is rather low because the latency seems good enough already, plus I don't care much for non-C64/Amiga action games; I almost exclusively play …

Re: MartyPC

I just found out if I zoom before I refresh before Run, it works! I get 200% fine. By default, you have: If I zoom 200% while running, I get an unresized emulator and it still stays: If I zoom before I refresh before Run, it works and correctly scaled: It's clearly a confusing part of the web …

Re: MartyPC

Really nice! How are you compiling your Rust software into JavaScript? That's fantastic-looking composite emulation -- best I've ever seen in a Javascript emulator -- and even runs realtime 60fps. I'd ask for a fullscreen button, or a double-click to enter/exit fullscreen, but that's only a nice-to- …

Re: Emulating Area5150

UPDATE: I have forked the potentially useful "Lagless Vsync HOWTO" for emulator developers to a separate thread here . Even if you don't plan to ever implement it, I wanted to post the "2023 best practices" there. Some emulators (Toni's WinUAE and Tom Harte's CLK) now use my findings to create a …

Re: Emulating Area5150

[Edited again for corrections; grammar; terminology. May still contain slip-ups, like interchanges between HBLANK vs HSYNC] Hi! This is a wealth of information, and I appreciate you sharing it. It will take me a while to digest it all. No rush. It's a hobby of mine to dabble in all of this on the …

Re: Emulating Area5150

Nice! Speaking of the display: would it be possible to improve the centering of the active area within the emulated monitor? As far as I can tell, +HRES modes (80-col text) are shifted far to the right, while -HRES (everything else) is way off to the left The version of MartyPC you're using returns …
