This SC-8820 showed up on a local auction site so I had to have it. I don't have any other romplers that are capable of General Midi 2 but I think it sounds really pleasant. Not a huge difference but more of an evolution. The plastic does however feel very cheap compared to for example the SC-55.

Last months packages. The STe was sold as defective but seems fine after reseating the chips and a general cleaning. The SC-55 was also sold as defective as the display/LEDs starts blinking after a while. Im guessing its something in the power supply or a bad solder joint but I havent tested it yet …
