I can tell you the jumpering for 512K, I upgraded two of my PA-2005 a while ago. I never bothered trying 1MB because I usually don´t need 256MB RAM on mainboards like this. You should also populate Jumper "CLK3" and try if 75 MHz FSB runs stable. In most cases it does.

If measured while soldered on the PCB it´s not unusual that a 1MOhm resistor is measured as 0.74MOhm due to the other (parallel) components in the circuit.

After messing around with the PS2 mouse pins, I would replace the two external inverters at pins 23 and 24 first. They are probably part of some 14-pin DIP circuit between the ISA slots or some SOP package near the KBC.

Three ISA slots are discoloured, so there has been severe battery lerakage and damage going on. I bet there´s still some interrupted traces or vias.

...voltage to the tab of either Q2 or Q3 results in the 3.57v output of the transistor (same measured on both or 2.49 volts for the vcc2 transistor with mmx settings). 2.49V for the MMX (P55) setting is way too low. This should be 2.8 - 2.9V. There´s definitely something wrong in the VRM circuit.

As far as I understood, VOLDET tells the mainboard, weather a 5V CPU is present or not. But can it tell the CPU weather the socket provides 5V or 3.45V??

Does your R61 have a dedicated graphic chip? The T-models had heavy issues with ATI chips (defective video RAM), the Nvidias had the "Nvidia-bug".

I have several T61 and this issue never occured, they all run and got installed with 4GB (Win and Debian dual-boot). Middleton BIOS fixes whitelists and enables SATAII as far as I remember. Is your Windows 7 install media beyond all doubt / free of any corruption? Did you try a x64 setup?
