Its part of the hobby tbh , pc compatibles were never as easy as say consoles and there will be tinkering, but hey it makes them fun to me as there's a bit of a challenge to getting a working setup and learning the ins and outs of the system while screaming at the computer for 2 days straight.

For retro systems the only time resolution bothers me is when I'm on the windows 3.1 / 95 /98 desktop , i favor cards with more vram so i can have smaller icons and more desktop , if I'm playing games I can live with 320x240 or 680 or whatever , i err on the side of higher res but if it hurts …

The MAME SC-55 mk I set does not contain the "extra code" ROM dump. Yeah I believe the rom contained within the cpu needs to be dumped still? Which requires a dumping rom containing a line of code and a logic analyser hooked up to to D0-D7 and WR as the trigger at least thats what I've gathered …

Yeah I just tested the patch on 86Box last night to compare to my real hardware and indeed it worked on that so the mystique must be causing some sort of conflict or seizing control specifically with patch 1.04. I guess I'll try pulling it out of my system and see if that helps.

Oh I also forgot to mention that when I was using thr decoder card successfully and updated to 1.04 it also didn't work , I had to fall back to to 1.0 to get it working again, I could try patch 1.03 but I only found a German copy of it and not the international one.

I looked this stuff up a while back , ww2 gi the expansion pack to nam came out 1999 , so one of the latest proper games , after that it was mostly freeware or shovelware titles. But pretty much after like 1997 dos games fizzled out.

In terms of the original sc55 1.21 roms the only one not accounted for is the Hitachi MCU main rom , its about 32kb in size but you need to inject code into the control rom to dump it and use a logic analyser to read it. https://github.com/nukeykt/Nuked-SC55/issues/41
