I would start removing all the caps and and cleaning. Maybe there is a short under a cap? Pads gone or something else. Good luck!

i used the controller and the drivers on win98, 2k, XP without problems to setup. Well NT4.0 is something else, but it should be working some way.

tryed to remove the line : catalog = disk1, si3114.cat but than nt tells me there missing files..

I want to install NT 4.0 on my Si3114 Sata link controller. So i got the drivers from the archive and they show up on WinNT setup. the aha 1542cp is installed and showing up without errors. But the drive itself need a driver. I will try the adaptec cd creator software. edit: the adaptec creator software installed the driver. Its working now, thanks alot guys!

Benchs are best with a HDD. With SSD adapter its really slow. Well you can build a IDE Raid what is fun, but otherwise its a slow controller after all..

I had one before 3chip bios. And my first chip was also 512kb. With the latest version there only 2 chips bios. They labled on the flash you download. Just leave the unused socket free.

I running an E8600 with win98SE @4,5GHz . Really nice single core CPU speed (i think the best cpu for win98SE looking on single core speed with huge L2 cache) and with 1066MHz DDR Ram.

To be clear i was also not a big Vista fan back in the days. But as new OS you look more forward to 64Bit DX10 and the new features. i running atm a XP x86 but want some DX10 stuff. So first i tryed that DX10 hacks for XP. But they dont work very well for me. So i was thinking about go to Vista for DX10 support. But i want all the great kompatibles from XP. So i wonder someone here running vista 32bit ?

Well you can use a benchmark like 3d mark 2000 and compare the results. But i think the CPU is your problem. You maybe consider upgrade to a p4 system (northwood 3GHz). That would push your geforce better for sure. The min specs from this timeline are really not a good point to go for.
