@Grem Five's card would be perfect for comparison. Looks like identical PCB with FGL 8800. I have one 9000Pro with BGA memory, might also be same PCB.

Its weird because there isn't much difference between the 8500 and 8800 aside from the VBIOS and core/vram speeds .. makes me wonder what they changed in the bios that affects OpenGL. It's probably some zero-ohm resistor in different position connected to GPU registers. Driver will always see it as …

I think only 9100. 92xx were RV250/RV280 based (Radeon 9000), so 4 TMUs instead of 8. Most of those 9100s are missing DVI. Memory is usually 4ns. Some are even 64-bit, missing half of memory chips. Hi guys. Been benchmarking the refered cards on a Asus P4800P with a P4 NW 3.0GHz and 1Gb Dual Channel DDR400 CL-2-2-2-5. Very interesting results with various drivers and FX3000 softmod to FX 5900 Ultra included. Doom 3 runs surprinsingly well on the 9800 XT, considering it´s nvidia territory. …

I hate those coolers with passion. Too weak for X850 series, and too massive for 9600XT (I've seen lot of chipped cores). Optional fan was recommended for 9800 Pro. Just go for the quality one with lots of jumpers (MSI and Asus are most common, there are also some generic ones). Regarding P2B, it should be late revision ... like 1.10 for Coppermines. P3B-F 1.04 and beta BIOS for 133 FSB is recommended.

V2 with 12MB? (Regarding resolution and textures size, does 8MB V2 have same limitations as V1?) Some ideas: * Miro Highscore 3dfx 6MB * Banshee PCI Lot more options with SuperSocket 7 (AGP) while keeping same CPU.

Thanks. Schematics are for PCIe variant, but still hold C1165 and C1166 on external power input (12V). They are specified at 10uF 25V.
