Re: Nvidia Turing GPU scaling

He just implemented bicubic and lanczos into a wip build. Looks great except his wrapper doesn't work great on IWD2. It's such a massive library of titles he's supporting, too much work for one person. OF course the advantage of a hardware or driver level solution is it should work with most titles. …

Re: Nvidia Turing GPU scaling

Man, no ones tried it? Maybe everyone here is too wise to blow hundreds of bucks on a gpu which will be obsolescent in a few years. Short of buying a CRT or one of the very few monitors with a quality scaler, this is good as it gets on an LCD. Spose we'll have to wait a few years until there's more …

Nvidia Turing GPU scaling

Has anyone tried it? Care to share your impressions on how it looks? Most of the website comments don't even know what it does. There's a software scaler in Nvidia Turing gpus (2080 etc). In the latest drivers you can select scaling only without sharpening. The scaling algorithm is 5 tap\32 phase if …

Re: Welcome to the updated VOGONS

in Milliways
SIt's just a bit of a shock. I'll need to get used to it. It's not bad, it's just...everything is so big now. I liked how neat and compact everything used to be. Nos there's so many frills around everything. Everything looks so complicated. But what of the semi-encapsulated text boxes, replete with …

Icewind Dale 2 frame drops

IWD2 has a lot of stuttering and frame drops, eg. going below 30 fps and slowing down in combat. I tested it with 2.55 and the issue was still present. I'm not sure what if anything can be done, but I'll post this here in case anyone comes up with something. PrimarySurfaceBatchedUpdate = true gets …

Re: Accelerated 2D upscaling for old 2D games.

Ah, I found it. I follow the conversation, all the math from this stuff is from signal processing and is freely available if you care to read it. It's also a very poor habit to assume people do not have knowledge. However, a) it requires it's own thread b) the image you posted isn't from any of your …

Re: Accelerated 2D upscaling for old 2D games.

lol, that looks fantastic, I can't believe you implemented it so quick. No one else has done this for a wrapper, but it's just such a fundamental improvement in fidelity isn't it? Such a boon for anyone going to back to play all these great old 90's era 2d games. I hope more people take an interest …
