Audigy 2 unofficial DOS driver

Has anyone actually gotten this to work at all? I have a pentium 100mhz with PCI slots and I tried putting the Audigy 2 in and loading the unofficial DOS drivers that were modified from the Live!'s and Audigy 1's DOS drivers and it said it was detected and everything but I still heard no sound at …

More than 4 IDE devices?

I wasn't sure where to post this.. Is it possible? My (and AFAIK every) computer only has a primary and secondary controller and each has a master and a slave. I have 2 HDs and a DVD burner and CD/RW burner. The thing is my DVD burner drive doesn't read a lot of DVDs very well (though it is just …

Re: Phantasmagoria to DVD?

Wouldn't it be just a matter of copying all the files from all the CDs onto your HD and then burning to DVD? Or does the install/config files point to certain discs? I heard of the same thing for Gabriel Knight 2 as well.

Re: 486 DX2 66 IDE controllers CD ROM problem

I'm having a similar problem with a 3.5" floppy drive now. The BIOS detects it and everything and it goes through the boot process but when I put a boot disk in to boot from it gives this error message: Disk I/O error Replace the disk, and press any key It's not a bad disk as I've used it many times …

486 DX2 66 IDE controllers CD ROM problem

Not a game problem but rather a hardware problem. I have 2 HDDs and a CD-ROM. In the 486's BIOS there is only an option to detect the Master and Slave drives. My controller card has pirmary and secondary IDE controllers but the BIOS only wants there to be a primary. There's no mention of a secondary …

Re: Windows 98SE and new motherboard

Actually, never mind, guys. I figured it out. Must have been a problem with the RAM. I had one 32MB SDRAM stick and 2 EDO (I think) 4MB sticks in and I took the EDO ones out and now it works fine. It kept saying it only had 32M of ram anyway even with the other two 4Mb sticks so it must have been a …

Windows 98SE and new motherboard

Not exactly to do with Windows games but Windows itself. I supplied a computer for my sisters to use for their own games and surfing the web etc. They originally had a 150Mhz board. I decided to switch it with a 233 MMX board I had so I could keep the old one (I like the old stuff). So I took the …

Re: DOS7.10 CD-ROM Boot and 486

It's MS-DOS (it's the version of DOS that runs on top of Windows 95/98). I've tried formatting a disk with the DOS 7 IMG file that the bootable CD uses to boot with, but for every disk I try that on it says there's errors on it (cyclic redundency check), that happens a lot when I'm trying to read …

DOS7.10 CD-ROM Boot and 486

I'm not quite sure which category this falls under, but here it is. I have a bootable CD for DOS 7.10 and I first tried it on my main PC (Pentium 4, Win XP etc) and it booted from it fine. I tried using it in my 486, however, and it didn't try looking at all. That's probably because the BIOS doesn't …

Re: 3 PCs for 3 generations

It's not that slow, actually. Runs fine. My problem was I couldn't find a DOS driver for it, but I finally found one. But games like Warcraft 2 and Space Quest 6 run perfect. Except in Warcraft 2 the game gets a little slow when there's a lot of stuff going on on the screen, I think that's just …

Re: Elder Scrolls Arena Savegame Woes

Actually, that's ok. I ended up starting over and it didn't take as long as I thought it would to get to where I was. It's too bad. I still had some really cool items. Thanks anyway for your help, though 😀.

Re: Elder Scrolls Arena Savegame Woes

I didn't back up the whole thing just the files that started with "save". I was just wondering if someone else who has the Stonekeep marker on their map could send me the appropriate file so that I could have the marker back again.

Elder Scrolls Arena Savegame Woes

I'm wondering if there is a solution to this problem. I started playing Arena on my 486 a while ago. I got pretty far (sort of) and then I decided to put Windows 98 (DOS 7) on it instead of DOS 6.22. As a result, I had to format the hard drive. I backed up the save game files and proceeded to format …
