Probably a 6x DVD drive will read CDs faster than 6x, I would guess, but I might be wrong. That said, I wouldn't want a too fast CD-ROM drive for games, as the spin-up time often tends to be a bigger annoyance than actual read speeds. And oh, the noise of those 52x CD drives are excruciating 🤣

Oh, there are soooo many places that could go wrong ... If I am not wrong, it's carbon coated connectors on the PCB? Be careful with those. There could also easy be a break just next to that metal bar, where it goes from being full flexible to being held rigid by the bar ...

How to read date codes on Slot 1 1000/100? I have 2 of different sSpec, though same stepping. Unfortunately I had a heat sink removal accident with one of them, so only one works 🤦‍♂️ Also I have 2 1100/100 fcpga, which I'm not sure either how to read date codes?

Just inspected it thoroughly. Unfortunately no missing or damaged components. One track looked suspicious until getting under the microscope - it was just fine. Cleaned slot contacts with IPA but still nothing. POST code card reads C4. Calling it ... 🙁
