Re: How to enable Agp 2x on P3B-F?

in Windows
Amen, Intel was the developer of the agp protocol, their motherboard never suffered for flaky agp integration, Intel also developed the Intel 740 back in time just to show the advantage of the agp over pci.

Re: How to enable Agp 2x on P3B-F?

in Windows
I'm sorry how can it be the P3B-F be an agp x1 motherboard? The 440bx supports agp up to 2x, how can the motherboard dictate to be agp 1x? From the manual of the Asus P3B-F: AGP Slot: Supports an Accelerated Graphics Port card for high performance, component level interconnect targeted at 3D …

Re: Matrox Mystique and Millennium plus successors

I'm doing the tests. I've also played a bit with biosses those are my findings: Mystique bios are the same for both first and 220 mhz version. I've been able to recover 3 of them: v1.2, v1.5, v1.8. Performance wise there are no noticeable differences. Compatibility wise the Mystique was able to run …

Re: Matrox Mystique and Millennium plus successors

Thank you for the complete answer and the precious informations Do you think that this version is hybrid version you mentioned? The video chip is the old one but the memory is faster than common Mystique and the back is labelled as 220: Filename 001.png File size 772.1 KiB Views 412 views Filename …

Re: Matrox Mystique and Millennium plus successors

I see, so it may be even worse than the vanilla Mystique? I've been able to get a Millennium 4mb rev R3. Now I need to get a Mystique 4mb, the Millennium II AGP and the 8mb Millennium II if ever. When I get it I'd like to do a comparison between all of those. What configuration I should use? A 440bx …

Re: Matrox Mystique and Millennium plus successors

I've just found those informations on dosdays.co.uk about the Millennium: Core Clock: 50 MHz (IS-STORM-R2 and MGA2064W-R2) 60 MHz (MGA2064W-R3) So apparently the "best version" is the r3 with 4mb of memory. I will try to find if there is anything similar about the Millennium 2 and the Mystique 220

Matrox Mystique and Millennium plus successors

Actually I have in my collection the following matrox pci cards: Matrox Mystique 2mb memory clocked at 60/90 mhz (unsure about it) Matrox Mystique 220 4mb memory anclocked at 60/90 (again unsure) Matrox Millennium II 4mb memory clocked at 66/66 (as always unsure about it). The information I found so …

Re: Config.sys and autoexec.bat for Dos 7.1

Oh. Sorry! I'm just worried that your configs could be more efficient, as you don't specify which region in UMBs to put your drivers and TSRs. I have before optimized DOS config files manually, partly because I didn't know at the time that I could run QEMM's OPTIMIZE with a PIF file. I enjoyed …

Re: Config.sys and autoexec.bat for Dos 7.1

I recommend using QEMM if possible. It has some compatibility issues but consistently gives more UMB. Also, if you're not using QEMM, you might want to tweak your memory configuration manually. If you have DOS's MEMMAKER, it can optimize your memory for you. Just remove all the DEVICEHIGHs and LHs …

Re: Config.sys and autoexec.bat for Dos 7.1

I used to believe you only need a single config, and all those menus are redundant. That's because I got 620K free RAM with XMS, EMS and all TSRs I wanted, in a single config. However, as was mentioned here, I later learned that a lot of success with UMBs and EMS depends on your system - chipset, …

Re: Config.sys and autoexec.bat for Dos 7.1

Thank you for the tip. I just checked: conventional memory + cd drivers gives me 573kb of conventional memory, it goes up to 581kb without the cd driver. I don't know if it would be enough to run even the most memory hungry programs or not. I knew umbpci, which as you said it's fine for pci chipsets …

Re: Config.sys and autoexec.bat for Dos 7.1

Hello fellow vogonians, in years of collecting old pc I developed a good general boot configuration for my dos 7.1 retropc (without windows 98) aimed to have a good compatibility and enough free conventional memory, starting from the phil boot disk configuration. Since everything is perfectible in …
